Re: ANYONE wants to put free MCboot on my memory card
The latest Freemcboot is 1.8, it automatically puts HDloader, ESR and Ulaunchelf onto the memory card, no need for a memory stick. I just did a friend of mine's Slim PS2 that way, he doesn't need a memory stick, he has access to ESR, HDLoader and Ulaunch right on the sysmenu.
No need for Swap Magic with ESR.

As I don't know much about the PS2 scene, can you guys explain to me what this is about in a nutshell (I guess I could also google and read up on it, but usually it's a bit hard to navigate around the explanations if you are 100% unaware of what's going on).

Thanks, I guess I could have googled this one and figured out for myself. I'm a bit surprised you can do that to a PS2 without anything trickier and fiddling. Similar to a PSP in that respect, isn't it?

Re: ANYONE wants to put free MCboot on my memory card
Yeah freemcboot on PS2 is dead simple. You can do it with any version of Action Replay MAX (even the ones that don't support direct booting of elfs) you simply copy the freemcboot elf over the memory card and away you go, if you can't do that then you use the Liberty exploit instead. The liberty exploit involves using action replay max to copy a hacked save for a compatible PS1 game to cause a buffer overflow which then allows you to boot the freemcboot elf.

Re: ANYONE wants to put free MCboot on my memory card
I'm bein too lazy to read the whole site, but does this permanently mod your system or is it just stored on the memory card and removing said card would put the system back to stock? I'm kinda wary of permanent soft-mods on systems like with the XBOX soft-mods because if it bricks for any reason or starts operating unfavorably due to a bug somewhere, there's not much you can do to save it (though maybe there are recovery methods I'm not aware of?). The reason I love the PSP and DC for homebrew is because the PSP can always be reflashed with custom or official firmware and the DC has all of the homebrew on the disc with no mods to the system.
