Recommend me some puzzle games like Braid or Portal.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

The Incredible Machine series. It's more puzzle as in "solve this problem" instead of a puzzle game like Tetris. It's really good and very fun.

I recommend TIM2, it's the best one.

JT, have you ever played blokus? it's not a video game, it's an actual board game. it's extremely fun but takes 4 people to play. very, very logic-oriented and each move requires forward-thinking to be successful. check it out.

They turned it into a PSP game.

The kinda board games I like are often too smart for my family, though I dont think they know about Carcassonne and Catan.

So... digital versions of these board games help.

right on, i can understand that. my dad and i used to play this game called pente all the time, and risk, stratego, shanghai, lots of logic-oriented games so i've always been attracted to those types of puzzles.

i do think the psp version of blokus is fucking annoying though

Has Prey been mentioned yet? It'd supposedly implemented portals long before Portal itself was even conceived, trouble was of course it'd taken over a decade to show up at retail!

Image

I find it strage nobody mentioned Ecco the Dolphin. It's a milestone in the world of puzzle-platformers. The difficulty can be nightmarish but that's a part of the experience.

Bubba 'n' Stix, it's a platformer/puzzler that can get quite frustrating. The CD32 version has redbook audio. Shakycam vidreview

AAAHH!!! Real Monsters, for Genesis and SNES. It's basically a Lost Vikings clone. Playable but nothing out of the ordinary here.

Image

Raw Danger! offers a variety of puzzles but the game itself is pretty average at best. Review

Illbleed is one of the few survival horror puzzlers that have a minimal of combat and lots of traps. Hilarious video review

The Experiment aka Experience 112 is adventure game with a twist, you control the character by guiding her through what you can see via security cameras. The gameplay mechanic is what makes this game, but awful voice acting and a naff ending ruined it for me. Gameplay footage. The lines between action-adventuring and puzzle-solving (ala Resident Evil) gets blurrier at this point so I'll leave it at this, but I'll mention some more titles that might fit the bill: Generations Lost (Genesis), Blackthorne (SNES/32X), Heart of Darkness (PC/PS1), Flashback (multi), Neighbors From Hell, Another World and its sequel Heart of the Alien (multi).. Pulsar_t you know about some of the most obscure stuff. They're usually worth tracking down too. I always appreciate your posts, especially since you take the time to provide pictures.

Thanks to others as well. This thread has offered up quite a few puzzle games I haven't played before. This really is the best forum for finding out about hidden gems (probably because the Hidden Gems articles are what originally attracted a lot of people to this site).

I also just bought Toki Tori on the current Steam deal. It's cutesy, but some of the puzzles require a decent amount of thought.

Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom. Its beauty and hardness can really be compared with Braid.
You can also download maps for portal (search in the internet). Another release is Portal:Prelude.
