Why would you want to pay them several hundred dollars to fix it anyways, plus all the time away from it during shipping? It would be cheaper, faster and easier to fix it yourself if its out of warranty.Niode wrote:Yes, but removing the sticker means that Sony will not touch the system at all, even if you pay them for a repair. I don't think there is a single company out there that will repair their systems if the warranty seal is broken regardless of whether it's in the warranty period or not.
Should probably stay off of the PS3 right now...

Though not pleasant, my YLOD total cost including free UPS tracked shipping box, Sony Factory Service Center exact same model replacement with new shell and 90 day warranty cost $162.00. Good luck trying to tackle a YLOD when its in the firmware.MrHealthy wrote:Why would you want to pay them several hundred dollars to fix it anyways, plus all the time away from it during shipping? By 'fix it yourself' do you mean getting a heat gun and abusing your PS3? Yeah, that's a bad idea, as stated by myself in various other threads about so called 'fixes' on the PS3/360. The only true way to fix a PS3 permanently is by having the BGA reworked on an infrared BGA workstation with some high quality flux and solder. All other 'fixes' are temporary and run a very high risk of breaking the console completely.MrHealthy wrote:Why would you want to pay them several hundred dollars to fix it anyways, plus all the time away from it during shipping? Let's be fair here. Niode, you're right about the YLOD thing, but you have to admit that overall you are pretty sour about Sony due to personal experiences that many people don't share.Niode wrote:Not negative, just the truth.MrHealthy wrote:Im not gonna argue, you clearly are a negative Nancy.

I think you want to smash all those YLOD PS3s into little tiny pieces like the rest of us feel.Niode wrote:Oh I never said I wasn't biasedMrPopo wrote:Let's be fair here. I know I'm biased, the truth part was referring to the YLOD, nothing else. I'm not that delusional/self-righteous to think that I'm always right about subjective matters.
