NES Problem - White Screen After a 72pin Replacement

Did you clean the contacts on the motherboard with rubbing alcohol before installing the 72pin connector? Also check if the spring loader is properly aligned, your games might not be getting full contact with the 72 pin connector.

So you're saying you put the new 72 pin connector from the white screen NES on the working NES and it works, so you isolated the problem to that one NES system (and ruled out the pin connector)?

Try cleaning the pins on the NES motherboard, the pins that the 72 pin connector connect to. While you have the system open look over the entire motherboard and make sure nothing sticks out like blown capacitors are bad solder joints, anything of that nature. Check this picture out...



You can see the bad ones have corrosion on the top. There's also one labeled "starting to bulge" which is bad. If the top is swollen out that means it's bad, it just didn't blow yet. When looking at solder joints, they should be smooth and shinny. Look for any corrosion. If you see something that looks bad but you're not sure, take a pic if you can and post it. Try to take as clear of picture as you can though.

Clean with a q-tip dampened (not dripping) with rubbing alcohol for the cart and the board in the NES. For the slot, you can dampen some clean cardboard from a food box that's been folded brown side out and carefully go in and out a few times.

What I do for my games and for the motherboard contacts is that I take a white eraser and rub the contacts with it on each side, and then I take a can of compressed air to spray off any pieces left over from the eraser, a tooth brush works well too. I top if off by cleaning the contacts with a q-tip dipped (but not dripping) in rubbing alcohol. Hope it helps.

Yeah, if you have the bit to open or make a temp one with a pen, electrical contact cleaner and a white plastic eraser is best but I was going on the assumption that this was going to be a closed cart situation with only standard household stuff.
