I wouldn't go so far as to say that it'll be worth 20K. The Nintendo World Championships were culturally significant to retro-gamers, since it was arguably the crystallization of Nintendo during the 8-bit era, and a lot of collectors with deep pockets are willing to pay handsomely to own a piece of gaming history. On the other hand, I'm not entirely sure if a Destructoid contest will mean anything to anyone in 20 years.

Congratulations on your win though. Even if it won't be worth 20K, it's definitely worth about $200 currently. That's still pretty good, plus there's the sentimental value of a console that wasn't bought with cash, but pure sweat of the brow.

I'd also advise not to get caught up with the future value of games, just because people are paying lots of money for Stadium Events. Sucks all the fun out of the hobby.
