I actually just finished Sonic Advance, and have since moved on to Sonic Advance 2. My only real complaint with Sonic Advance is that it seems to punish you for playing it like a Sonic game. There are tons of cheap spike traps that come out of nowhere, and instead of making the game feel challenging, it just makes it feel cheap.

Sonic Advance 2 however promotes playing it like a normal Sonic game, and rewards you for finding ways to travel faster. As mentioned already, the boss fights in this game are great! I really like how different they are from other Sonic games. I've made it to the third level, and will probably try to play through it this weekend.

The Sonic Advance games were decent. I enjoyed the first and second, but never figured out how to start the third. I just sorta got stuck in the beginning thing.

sonic advance 1 is REALLY good. I mean mega drive good. imo it's better than sonic 1 and 3 on the mega drive (but not better than 2 and knuckles).

but 2 and 3 are really crap. specially 3. they are only about running. almost no platforming

Huh, I've totally overlooked this series. Maybe it's time-enough now to stop looking at Sonic as the enemy. And I admit, I too assumed these were cheesy ports and some developer's easy payday. Thanks a million for bringing this series up- more carts to keep an eye out for.

Huh I actually thought advance 3 was the best. The first one was pretty good too. I thought the 2nd one moved further away from the genesis formula and was mostly a "hold right" ordeal. It just seemed like you were running non stop. Even the boss stages had you running the whole time. I thought the 1st and 3rd ones were the most like the genesis games.

I'm currently playing through Sonic Advance 2, and I just want to say that Sky Canyon Zone is a bitch.
