Looking for an arcade game

Post by Kebo »

Trying to find this game has bothered me for years, because I only have vague memories of it, and I can only hope the memories are accurate. Yet I used to look forward to playing it all the time as a kid.

It was a vertical scrolling game, I believe some kind of shooter. And if I recall correctly, there was a floating head, almost like Andross, that would talk to you. At least this has been in my imagination for over a decade and it's driving me crazy. I don't even know where to begin to look for such a game. It would've had to have been made before 1995. Anyone have a clue what this game might be?

You can get Sinistar for your game console too.

I'm not sure that's it...I seem to recall it having a little more detailed graphics (it was at a pizza place I played it, early 90s)

No, it was 2d, sprite based, top down view. Maybe I've just gone mad and this never existed. But I swear these memories are vivid.

R-Type?

Was it definitely a bottom shooter or maybe a side shooter? Anything else you remember might help in tracking the game down.

I'm almost 100% sure it was a bottom shooter. And I'm almost 100% certain there was either some bad guy that spoke, or some floating head in at least one of the levels or the 'preview' gameplay. The floating head in Sinistar reminds me of what I'm thinking about, but the rest of the game doesn't at all.
