hey, turds, do everyone a favor and stop calling people out by name. it's rude and you look like a dipshit. i have "issues" with the way certain people act on this forum also but this thread is meant to be productive, not a laugh-it-up shit-dragging. so, please, kindly stfu.

of course you agree, you two were the ones i was calling out for calling others out. i recognize the utter shittiness of my post now in retrospect and hope to retract all ill feelings that may have arisen from it. my point is that i didn't make a thread to say "LOST WITHIN IS A PIECE OF SHIT" or "LUKE IS SUCH A MINI-MOD OMG", and i kinda felt like it could have gone that direction with the comments you two had made.

i am sorry for being rude but i still stand by my point, lost as it may have been through that stream of curse words. when i posted that i had just watched some fat woman try and leave her cart in a handicapped space, so i was really hot.

also, it seems like any time this issue gets brought up (ironically, fairly often) most of the forum chimes in and says "yeah, good point" at first, then says "but, well, things really aren't that bad." and granted, there aren't, but i'm just saying, there's got to be a better way, one that doesn't even allow those feelings of discontent with forum organization/moderation to even arise. and again, i'm at a loss as to what that solution could be. but i'm game for discussion about it.

perhaps i'm looking a gift horse in the mouth, because i really hate just about every other gaming forum i've visited and this place is nowhere near as bad as those.

But as I said no one should be rude regardless. I guess the best way to deal with it is to just not say anything back. If a person keeps doing it report them to the Mods.

I blame myself for bringing up the phrase "mini-mod". Though I don't think I've ever been one, but everyone's perception is different.

Anyway, I think the forum is pretty much great the way it is. Members reminding newbies to search doesn't hurt, and I think the mods could use the help, Lord knows I wouldn't want their added responsibility. And although I've had disagreements with Limey and Izzy, we've never resorted to personal insults or name calling. There's a great group here, and sure we get a few bad apples, but they don't seem to stay.

I'm still glad this thread happened. I was considering making one myself. People really have been getting mean lately. There's really no reason to make someone who didn't do a search, is new to the forum, or didn't find anything on a search feel dumb and you're not cooler for it. Answer the question if you know the answer and provide a link to the relevant thread. If they're a new member and you're so inclined, shoot them a polite PM and explain the forum etiquette here. Even I (and many other members it seems) still have major issues finding threads that I KNOW exist and even remember key title words of. Hopefully this will remind people to just be nicer dammit .

@ aaron: I don't think you ruined the thread. That naming crap needed to stop. What was happening was INCREDIBLY rude and inappropriate. I personally don't feel you were out of line, but even if you were you already apologized. I feel those other two were under much more obligation to apologize, but instead just ganged up on you. So... to you guys.

If any of it's going to stop then users must be called out or they will continue. I won't name names anymore but it's gotten real bad lately the fourm is starting to become very elitist since a large amount of the users that post her often have been here for a while. There's nothing worse then a fourm that has a bunch of Regular users running around acting like mods it turns people off.

If somebody consistently posts new threads regarding a topic over and over regardless of the fact that there is already a dedicated thread for this topic. Then it's very frustrating for mods to keep having to tidy it up. First time somebody makes a mistake, I will point out the mistake politely and advise them of proper forum etiquette. Second time, I will remind them that they have made this mistake before and remind them again. The third time, that's when I start to get frustrated. If you have to tell somebody 3 or 4 times in a row to do something I'm pretty sure you would get a little peeved as well.

What I don't think people understand is that they may complain that people aren't following 'forum etiquette' but they don't have to clean the aftermath up. We do. Yet judging from this thread, we're the ones getting the flack. This forum would be a complete mess if it wasn't for the stellar job the moderation team carry out here. I'm not tooting my own horn here, I really do think the rest of the moderation team do a great job and that was long before I joined the team.

I do see Moderators are constantly tied up to never ending task of fixing similar threads Bump here, bump there boy the road is rough.

SEARCHING, VIEWING NEW POSTS and ADD REPLY instead of creating a similar new post would help everyone trying to find out about a certain topic.

A thought to maybe help keep forums more organized and reduce repeats. No not a ton of stickies either.

The first screen comes up when Racketboy is opened that has the highest exposure. I think a lot of people tend do make a new post to get that more exposure rather then simply going to View New Posts which are in chronological order.

Perhaps another section on the http://www.racketboy.com/ Front page Maybe newest 10 Replies of existing posts or at even go as far as first day or two of Newest Replies separate (if possible) of New Posts.

Plus a click to that newest reply could jump you that page not the first page of that older topic.

Then maybe this will encourage everyone to (which should be done anyways)
ADD REPLY instead of creating new posts of similar Topic.
