Tron Legacy Trailer Screened

Post by bladerunner »

So the Tron Legacy trailer premiered yesterday at select IMAX theatres. A description of the trailer is below:

The trailer will be released nationwide with Alice in Wonderland, March 5.

Man this sounds so awesome. I have seen the tech demo reel they did for Comic-Con awhile back and it was cool, but it definitely did not have the polish of a major motion picture. Everything I have heard about this movie is awesome: Daft Punk, Jeff Bridges, lightcycles...FUCKING LIGHTCYCLES.

I loved the original and obviously can't wait to see this. It is a shame that the Tron 2.0 game story is being ignored and is basically non-canon now (but really, who cares). The PC version is still a great game and definitely worth checking out if you have a chance.

Have they updated the plot to 21st century standards or are they still going for that "But programs are people too!" approach?

I came into Tron WAY too late, not until a couple years ago but when I saw it I was blown away. I loved it. I am really excited about this new one but I'm also skeptical as to how they're going to approach people/programs/avatars in some digital world. Not enough film as tackled this subject matter - anime really has, but it would be great to see some live action stuff dealing with tech from a serious perspective.
