AVGN SwordQuest

Post by jfe2 »

I know there are mixed opinions on AVGN on these boards, but I found this video to be particularly awesome. It's the first time I've ever heard of this game, and part of me would love to see a developer try something similar today. I'm sure it wouldn't really be feasible, but hey, someone could try some sort of contest that involved in game hints.

Hope you guys enjoy it! :)

Oh man, when I saw that vid, I was thinking how awesome it would be for something like today. I just wish Airworld had time to be released and such.

Did see that one last week, and you can say its one of those things like in the good ol'days (such as flying an airline!).

IGN.com did have video streaming about the rise and fall of Atari, which interviewed several programmers that worked at Atari during the late 70's and early 80's. And they very frank about their perception of what they thought were during that time, which it was quite similar to the dot.com bust in the early 2000's. They made lots of money on the games, and weren't afraid to spend it in any ways.

Of course one issue is whatever Jack Tramiel is the main villain in all this or not: as some see him as vulture ripping off of what's left that was valuable, leaving only the bones; others may say that Atari was already in the fall before Tramiel came in.

But dang! Real gold and jewelry! Now that is a real treasure quest!

I'm also really glad that he stated on his website that he plans to start releasing the videos at a slower rate to keep the quality up. '09 wasn't a great year for the Nerd.
