I have a problem with starting RPGs. I've played through Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, and now I don't want to start over on another RPG. I just feel my work was wasted so much. If I force myself to start, I'll probably have fun playing through it, it's just the start.

I've been doing pretty well with RPGs recently. My GF spectates so that tends to keep me focused. Still haven't finished Xenogears though, she doesn't like that one. (Sprites?!)

I don't like Grinding, and I ragequit a lot. IMO RPG bosses shouldn't require 40 extra hours of killing Gnolls in order to take the next boss and get the right equipment.

I try to do everything. I use guides even though it ruins the fun. As a result I am usually over leveled and able to kill everything using just normal attacks. I gotta stop doing that.

My buddies and I always hoard and never use the best useable items in rpgs and especially FF's. Eg: Elixers, Mega-elixers, and phoenix downs (in FF3). At the end we see how who has the most.

I'd agree, you shouldn't have to kill monsters just for the sake of leveling up. That's just bad design. If you're not going to be leveled up enough to continue through the main quest, the designers should provide some side quests where you can get leveled up and still be entertained. Newer games are a lot better about this.

I liked The World Ends With You for it's very loose leveling and difficulty. If you wanted to grind, it was just as easy to lower your level by ten, and take on seven or eight encounters in a row, and adjust difficulty as it was to fight 900 beasties at regular to accomplish the same thing. Also why Fire Emblem- Rekka no Ken was better than The Sacred Stones, because in TSS you were expected to grind since they gave you the option.

are that I tend to only buy RPG's, so when I get a new one I play it and that leads to:

I keep forgetting what I was supposed to do next in Dragon Quest IV and restarting. I'm now bored with it and may try again in a year or so.

It took me ten years to finally get around to beating Final Fanasy VII. I kept trying to breed the perfect Chocobo and would forget what to do next.
