ok i just was given the opportunity to go through some left over stock in a gaming warehouse here in Dubai.
i bought about 50+ units including things like Neo geo carts, SNES, Genesis carts, 3DO games, Sega CD games, SNES Console, Dreamcast controllers etc etc for very good prices.
THe thing is - there were literally hundreds of boxes of new sealed games for Game Gear, gameboy, SNES, 3do, etc . I went through a lot of them but some of the games were just terrible - i.e Golf, Madden 96, Barbie crap, horse crap etc that were sealed for about 10Dhs = $3USD each..
the question is when collecting and presented with such an opportunity - do you buy terrible games?
for me - if its on the Neo AES then yes sure, or if its valuable fine. However there were so many copies (i.e. BOXES) sometimes of the same games on Mega CD/3do etc and i only buy games that i would like to play or at least know are decent games..
i pick up my stash later today hopefully and will post pics but wanted to know what everyone else does when presented with that "crappy" but sealed game at throwaway prices...

No, unless the coverart looks cool or if the game is rare.

I will buy a terrible game if the price is ridiculously cheap, and I can make use of the game somehow.
For example, I'd never buy Enter The Matrix for the Gamecube to play it - I'd buy it because it's a 2-disc game, and if it has it's original packaging, I can put two games in it to save space (Like Pikman and Pikman 2).
Pretty much the only way I have crappy games in my collection is through lot deals.

In buying PS2 games, I bought two stinkers that were so terrible, I doubt I'll ever play them again.
I want to have copies of all the "worst" games ever. Rise of Robots, Aquaman, that sort of thing.

All thriller, no filler.
No point buying a game if I am not going to get it.

Serious collector-heads will collect anything, like the guy who had every game on every region for the DreamCast, or whatever. I am sure for the rest of us, whilst you have to respect his cumpulsive obsessive disorder and dedication to collecting, the rest of us buy games we think might be worth playing, even if it isn't immediately, and don't get the titles we know as rubbish because they are available and mint condition.

I have Deep Blue on the PC Engine/Turbografx-16, and that is widely considered (my myself as well) to be terrible. I keep it... I don't know, just because.

they usually have to be really cheap, like i won't buy a sports game unless its cheap. i've given away a lot of systems to friends who may have kids. so games i won't play go to them. i've gotten so many good games for cheap (aka earthbound and chrono trigger for $2 each) that buying a somewhat crappy game for someone else is ok.
