Blaster Master Overdrive

Post by Luke »

Someone, anyone:

This game is driving me crazy (although it's a short trip and the road is slippery). I'm at level 4, for the past two days, and can't seem to find way to where I need to get.

A map to help clarify where I am, and where I'm trying to go:

I just beat level 2... so I kept checking to get some tips.

On a side note, where did you get that map?

The map doesn't help that much after the third level. I beat BM Overdrive over the weekend, and let me tell you, it was not fun. Felt like I had to beat it though.

I actually considered downloading this tonight. Why wasn't it fun?

Seems like it may be a frustratingly difficult game. I actually had to stop playing Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror because I couldn't figure out where to go in both of those games. I get the sense that this game may fall into the same boat as those games.

For Kirby, I had to refer to my map about every five seconds. The game was well worth the tedium, though. (it got better later as the game got a little more linear) It felt like the next step in Kirby games. (enemies have weaknesses to certain abilities, you have to actually dodge the bosses, etc.)

I really did enjoy the game, I just had trouble trying to figure out how to get where I wanted to go. I put it down for a week and when I came back, I was just completely lost.

The same exact thing happened in Harmony of Dissonance. While it wasn't as enjoyable as Kirby, it still annoys me since I'm a huge Castlevania fan. I feel like I owe it to myself to beat it one day.

It just got too frustrating. Sure, the original Blaster Master is difficult (a bit of an understatement) but I never thought it was cheap.

The graphics are good, but have lost their charm for me. The sound is good, but I actually prefer the original music. Plus, sophia doesn't explode like it used to when you ran out of power.
