Hopefully the buyer has everything he wants in the world already, plus ridiculous amounts of money leftover with nothing to spend it on. If that's the case, I might be able to understand spending a fortune for a crappy common game with a rare name. Hmm, even still, it sounds so stupid to me.puke_face wrote:No, he deserves no kudos. Kudos to the guy who buys that. I know I could never do it.

Well coming from a guy who hasn't seen anything close to 41K in his life, it's astonishing to think anyone would have enough money to afford a rare game, regardless of how common it's counterpart is.
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)

Well folks, here it comes. The video games version of the early 90s boom for comic books.

Yeah, I can't imagine spending $40K on a game. But then I can't imagine having a billion dollars either. According to Wikipedia there are 360 billionaires in the US. Surely one of them was an NES kid.
Think of it this way, if you have 1,000,000,000 to your name then 40K is 1/25000 of your net worth. That would be like someone who has $125,000 to their name spending $5 on a video game.
What this really highlights is the extreme disparity in wealth in the US.

Truth be told, after looking at the bid history I am a little suspicious. One guy bid repeatedly from $22,700 to $39,800, bidding roughly every ten seconds for about 8 minutes.

Not bad for a $29.99 initial investment

I will laugh my ass off when the buyer gets it and makes a crappy youtube video of him opening it. He probably won't even have the decency to purchase a good camera or even hold it still.
