Yeah, time has it's own multiplier. I beat the stage with under 3:00 on the clock.

It's unconfirmed but some people believe accuracy somehow plays into the score.

For that A ranking I loaded out with the L-10000 beam cannon and two 2000 round GGs and tried not to miss. The front guns on the boss appear to take little to no damage from energy or beam weapons but they take massive damage from slug weapons. I also equipped the Vulcan Shield because it makes you completely invincible to all damage (while in use) and allowed me to dive through swarms of missiles without taking damage. I also used the best armor I could find - this keeps your damage counter down when you do take hits, allowing me to take more chances for a quicker kill.

I tried almost the same thing but used the flamethrower for the front 2 guns. I will try the 2 GG and see if I have better luck as far as accuracy.

Also I don't know if you ever noticed that right after you beat stage 6 it will bypass the loadout screen and take you right into the boss fight.. and if you are successful you get the L-9000 laser at the end. If you die and continue that weapon will not appear again as far as I know. Do you know if you continued at all on the last boss when you got the A rank?

...on a side note.. I was playing the arena level 3 on my second run through and managed to keep my game level at 5 or 6, and I was surprised to encounter an extra opponent I hadn't seen before.

Can't remember what the suit looked like, but the pilots face looked like he had on a luchadors mask or something.....

I was wondering if anyone had seen this or knew what it unlocks on the first run through if you beat him.

Hmm... I haven't seen that arena opponent you're talking about.

As far as the final boss is concerned - I did not continue. I used what load out I had in Stage 6.

edit: I just walked through the game with the 90000X beam cannon... kills bosses in milliseconds (no joke). I saw (and killed) the arena opponent you were talking about. He looks like he would be impossible with normal weapons. It took about a minute to kill him with a combination of the beam gun and the GG3000.

I don't get it...the onlything I can think of is getting my bonus points up somehow.
My final score overall is approx. 470000 with 114700 for the stage.

If you could somehow replicate your A run I would be very interested in the methods...
also, what suit were you using?

PS. I read in an earlier post that someone was having trouble deleting a save slot.
If you select the slot you want to delete and hold left on the dpad it will let you delete a game.

I haven't touched the game this weekend. Friend came over and we played other stuff. I'll get back into it sometime this week. It's making an excellent time killer while waiting for Bulk Slash.

Do you remember what suit you used for the boss?

I am wondering if that would make a difference.

Oh, sorry! I used the 3rd Suit: the last Leynos variant.

This is crazy.. Ive loaded out with L-20000 and the mgx1000 (best machine gun) and beaten the boss in 1:30 without getting hit. I can't think of anything else to try...

Ive also tried to replicate your run with the L-10000 and GG2000 but I find that lazer to be weaker and the GG not as accurate.
If you can think of anything Im not doing, or have any other suggestions I would be very grateful....

Till then Ima keep hackin away at this bastard....

Hmm... Who knows... it could be random. It could have something to do with the weapons in use... maybe you're being penalized by using more powerful weapons... no wait, that doesn't really make sense. I have no idea. When I have some spare time in a few days I'll try to run through the game again on another save and see if I can get an A again.
