Replacement screw(s) for Dreamcast VMU battery door
That's the bugger right there. I have not succeeded finding replacements for these screws. I have two that are stripped and are not easy to remove anymore.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Take one with you to the hardware store and they might have some that fit. They'll likely have threads all the way up and won't be the fancy ones with the smooth bit of shaft, but as long as the threads and the length match, they should be ok.
I might have some that will work in my Pile O Parts® if you just can't find any.

Well, I have checked home depot and home hardware. Neither carries anything this small. Would an electronic component shop have it? Is there a place online that might carry something like this?

Do you not have a small local hardware store or an ACE hardware in your area?
If not try finding one online at an electronic component supply dealer like mouser or something.

I found 2 screws in my pile of parts that fit. Though sending 2 tiny screws is ridiculous. Got a trade list? Maybe we can trade some other stuff and I can toss them in.septimus wrote:Well, I have checked home depot and home hardware. Neither carries anything this small. Well, They could conceivably be taped down to a sheet of paper and sent off in a letter.Hobie-wan wrote:I found 2 screws in my pile of parts that fit. Though sending 2 tiny screws is ridiculous. Perhaps I should put together a list of things I would like to trade and post it in the BST subforum.

I don't think ACE hardware operates around here. I'll see if I can't find an equivalent.

Well, some cardboard maybe so they don't get eaten by the sorting machines, but yeah. Just seems like it would be more worthwhile to be in a bigger trade.septimus wrote: Well, They could conceivably be taped down to a sheet of paper and sent off in a letter.

I think Mouser is basically a database of several suppliers, which is why it has everything.
About the stripped screws, I saw the other day a tip to remove them is to put a rubber band between the screwdriver and the head of the screw to give extra grip and unscrew them.
Ivo.

Another option is to use a Dremel to cut a slot in the top of the screw so you can use a flathead to unscrew it.
