burned games will only play audio files (sega saturn)

Hello, my name is Joe and I have recently purchased and installed a mod chip into my Sega Saturn with the 32 pin IC, I used the A to B method. My problem is I can only get the audio files to play off of the burned disc's but I can play non burned games. So at least I know that the ribbon cable is sending a signal or message between the chip and mother board also I have verified that I have 5v going into the chip as well. Do you guys think that I should try and solder a wire from the chip to pin 14 on the IC or do you think its something with the way I am burning games?

Apparently, you don't need to have the 5v soldered. If not, try reburning the games at a lower speed (1x, yeah....)

If you're mod chip is in and you can play retail games, then the problem is probably the burning of the discs or the images themselves.

Search the forum a little, there's about a bazillion of these threads.

Thank you, also in the time it took you guys to respond I just went ahead and unsoldered my A to B bridge and hooked the A wire up to pin 14 and the symptoms are the same.

So I just made a very big and cool discovery, all my games that I have burned work perfectly, what I have found out is that if I open my cd cover while the console is on and put a burned game in then it will only allow me to listen to audio files and the icon in the upper left does NOT say run application. But if I leave the console off and put in the burned game, shut the lid and then power up, everything works fine. I am so excited and I am up to 8 controllers and one multitap so I am very close to playing 10 player bomber man!

You still wanna burn as slow as you can. And I recommend reading and following everything in the guide that I linked you.

I must say that these Saturns and mod chips are funky. I have a 32pin model and mine needs to be on for a couple of minutes (warmed up) before it will play burned CDs. Odd.

I don't know. I don't have a Saturn. However, lurking around and seen how this forum gets these posts about every other day and actually reading them, I think so. However, the other responders are much more knowledgeable on this subject.

Yeah I agree that they are kinda funky, but I am very happy that my games work and that I can finally enjoy games like panzer dragoon saga.
