FC-16 Go (portable SNES) V2.0 arriving soon...
Just heard out about a follow up to the Yobo FC-16 Go coming out in the next week or so. My original FC-16 Go had an accident at the hands of my cousin over the weekend, so this is actually perfect timing. Apparently they've made some decent improvements over the first model, which only came out 3 months ago, including a SNES style d-pad, greater compatibility (which was already about 99%), a standard headphone jack and S-T-E-R-E-O sound (my biggest gripe was the mono sound). We'll see how it all comes together. I've already pre-ordered mine from Stone Age Gamer.

I haven't seen anything, but have read it'll be "glossier" which I'm not exactly crazy about, but if it has the updated features, I can live with glossy...
I'm sure you could throw the one you just got up on eBay or something. Might want to wait to see if the claimed new features actually show up in the new model first, though.
While it kinda sucks that a new model is barely 3 months after the first one came out, I'd actually rather have them update it sooner than later, as I knew at some point all of the lacking features (mono sound, PSX-style D-pad, etc) would be fixed with a new model eventually.

I'm glad I've held off on buying one of these! Let us know what you think of the new model when it ships out to you.

Maybe they will make one that plays Super Famicom games? I want portable 16-bit Nintendo fun too...

From what it looks like here, you can open the unit up, snip off the little tabs that keep the SFC carts from fitting in the slot and the games should work fine. All that's keeping the SFC games working are those tabs from what it sounds like. However, on the new model this might not be an issue.

It's actually that the cart slot is just too narrow for SFC games. If you changed the shell they should work.BAD PIXEL wrote:From what it looks like here, you can open the unit up, snip off the little tabs that keep the SFC carts from fitting in the slot and the games should work fine. Oh man! I was just about to order one. Awesome timing. I agree I'm not crazy about glossy - we'll see how the other improvements fare.

I don't have an SFC cart handy, but looking up the dimensions on the Ben Heck forums, I found that an SFC cart is stated to be about 4.96" wide. An SNES cart measures about 5.25" wide. Again, I don't have an SFC cart here now, but in the past I don't remember them being all that much wider than the SNES carts.MrPopo wrote:It's actually that the cart slot is just too narrow for SFC games.
