LCD TV for TATE?

Post by fastbilly1 »

Any of yall have experience with a LCD tv for tate?

I am thinking about building a 2 player Tate cab for nothing but vertical shmups and would love to be able to put in a 32inch lcd tv. I am not going for perfect arcade emulation, just the ability to play the game - so alittle blurry is acceptable (though none would be great), but lag is not. My love for shooters waxes and wanes but I know when I had a tate monitor on an old pc I played alot more of them than I do now. I plan on just playing MAME and PC ports on it. Any suggestions?

I looked on system11 and they suggest buying either a crt or a 26inch monitor of which brand I am blanking on. If I cannot find a decent one, I have a backup, but Id rather not have to figure out how to build the cab so it can hold a 27inch CRT.

Thanks all.

I'd say that if you can find a LCD you'd be happy playing Team Fortress 2 on then it'd be fine for a MAME TATE. Keep in mind that if you pipe in your signal over DVI or VGA it tends to bypass the various upgrades that the LCD will do. I also assume that you'll be hooking your computer up to stand alone speakers, which tends to be the other lag issue with HDTVs.

DO IT. You're not putting anyone out by hooking it up. They're making the same hourly rate whether you're their taking up their time, or someone else is.

That's how we know Popo is a baller. Only ballers use Nomads as a means by which to measure how good a TV is.
