Re: Garage Sale Strategy
once the weather in New England is non-snow, my wife and I spend almost every Saturday morning hitting up yard sales, garage sales and flea markets. I'm getty very itchy waiting for it. Sigh.

Re: Garage Sale Strategy
One guy gave me a Commodore 64 free once, and I got my Atari 2600 for 25 cents. Garage sales can have absolutely nothing some weeks, and tons of stuff another. There is no strategy, just know what to look for, sometimes people place video game stuff in weird places so just look around. Bins with music CD's sometimes have Playstation 1 games with them because of the jewel cases.

Out of the box it doesn't. The jackasses at Sony actually changed up the mapping when dual shock came out. Guess they didn't care about the folks that actually invested in one of these things.GSZX1337 wrote:Does this work with Virtual On Marz?CRTGAMER wrote:![]()
In my opinion, the true gem that I use this stick for is "Assault", which you can find on Namco collection 4.
Re: Garage Sale Strategy
In the UK we have car boot sales - similar sort of thing. People use a field or school venue, take their cars and vans there, set up a table or two and put all their stuff on the tables and floor for sale. You can get hundreds of such stalls in a venue. Out of a few hundred stands you always see consoles and games for different systems and can get for cheap prices too usually.

I have to agree. I also hate it when people post rare stuff that's on ebay. it really isn't helpful for hunters of rare stuff.s1mplehumar wrote:I never disclose my strategies, especially if I'm within a 100 mile radius of the potential competition inquiring.
if I find a rare item I know someone wants I PM them rather than yell it out to the world.
Ocelot, did it again...sorry Boss !
Re: Garage Sale Strategy
No luck on PS2 games, Mapping did get changed, it supported digital pads and a proprietary Flight Stick mode. Really works great on the PS1 game Descent. There is a Sony DUAL ANALOG which had a limited run, supported digital pad, this flight Stick and current Dual Shock mode. I have one of these and two of the big Flightsticks. One of these days I am going to mod one of those Flight Sticks to a current Dual Shock circuit board. In the interim I have modded the Blaze Twin Shock so that has held me over for all the Twin stick games such as Robotron, Black Widow and Virtua On.shallowgamer wrote:Out of the box it doesn't. Best deals ever:
Boxed Sega Game Gear w/ Columns Pack-in: 75 cents
PS2 Network Adapter: $2
Turquoise GBC w/ 6 Pokemon Games: $10
I usually target people at ages 45-55: their kids might be moving out, and they get rid of their old junk
. I also like it when kids sell their video games. Lol'd at a kid selling his copy of FF12 CE for $50 last summer...
The only thing worse than missing a deal is losing it to a shipping error
Been using GeoPostcodes
— global postal code database, updated weekly — really helps when ordering retro stuff internationally.

Poor kids think they're sitting on gold most of the time. I used to see pokemon stands set up on Saturdays. Guess what? The garage sale crowd isn't looking to pay "book value" for anything..illiriks wrote:Best deals ever:

I haven't had any luck in years. There are way too many people trying to make a buck on video games now. I'll never forget the granny who snagged a boxed top loading NES for $1 right before I got there...

Thats how we were but my girl is starting to hate it...I always thought of it as fun she always looked at it as "well if you WANT to I guess" so I guess most of my hunting will just be done if I am driving somewhere and see one
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.
