im having trouble making nesDS work, please help
Im having trouble making the nesDS work. i downloaded the nesDS.nds file from the racketboy website. I loaded the file into micro sd card. when i opened up the nintendo ds, and went to the menu, and clicked on the nesDS icon(which has an 8 bit mario on it), after that, nintendo ds froze. i get 2 black screens after i click on the nesDS icon. What am i doing wrong?

What kind of flash cart do you have? If you have the GBA+NoPass, then you need to pre-patch it with DLDI. If it is the NDS slot kind, then make sure you have the latest release and your cart supports DLDI.

Some homebrew on the R4 requires DLDI patching. It doesn't support auto-patching on the fly like a lot of modern cards. http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/DLDI/ There is a list of DLDI patches and patching engines for Linux, OS X and Windows (in CLI or Noob mode 'ahem' I mean GUI).
DLDI stands for Dynamically Linked Device Interface, it's used with libfat to give homebrew developers a simple way of reading/writing data on a FAT formatted memory card inserted into the system. If the homebrew isn't patched for the specific fat system that a certain card uses (not all cards are the same and it allows devs to implement one system of read/write and then have end users patch the homebrew themselves for their specific card rather than the devs creating a version for every single card) the homebrew won't boot, or will freeze when a read/write action is attempted.
I'd advise you to upgrade to a DSTT though since they cost around $10 and they support patching on the fly and SDHC (High Capacity SD cards). Plus they're still being updated and patched for compatibility. The R4 hasn't been patch/updated for 2 years now. It's outdated. If you have bought it in the last 18 months chances are you've got a cheap knock off, which are rumoured to break your DS.
