How do you connect xbox 360 to the internet? I'm so lost, I just bought a xbox 360 elite and have no idea how to connect it to xbox live. Ok I have a comcast modem that hooks ups my cable and internet and it is a wired connection, my xbox is in a different room and theres no way I can put it in the room with my computer. What devices do i need to purchase to get xbox live?

I'm kinda in the same situation, having a 360 in another room (forever, never gone LIVE) and my Comcast modem connected to my PC in another. $100 retail for that wireless adapter is a joke, so unless you go that route I think you have to have your modem within ethernet cable distance of your console.
Re: How do you connect xbox 360
Get a wireless bridge. Much cheaper than the official adaptor. Plus if you get a 4 port one you can plug your other systems that have an ethernet connection into it, EG Xbox, PS2, Gamecube etc. That would be a much better course of action.
If you can find a WRT54GL for cheap that would be the cheapest possible way of doing this. You can install DDWRT or Open WRT onto the router and turn it into a wireless bridge. It also has the added benefit of extending the range on your wireless network.

You can get an Asus WL-520GU for $30 right now. I have one of these with dd-wrt on it. It's a real champ, never crashes, does everything I could ask of it.

If all you have is a modem and no router (wired or wireless) then a long peice of ethernet cable is your cheapest solution. You could buy a 50ft peice for under 10 bucks off the internet, connect it to your modem and then to the back of your 360. I'm wondering if you have extra ethernet jacks on your modem.ellenthy wrote:How do you connect xbox 360 to the internet? I only wonder because early cable modems had one ethernet jack on them. If this is the case, you really need your cable provider to come out and put in a new modem. All the new ones have multiple ports on the back.
