I'm 15 and since my family didn't have much money, I started with the N64 and had a Gba, but since as I stated before, my parents got me gbc games. I view games by their fun factor and not their graphics. Now I got my 9 yr old cousin to be a genesis fan :D

I'm 20. My first real gaming console was SNES. We had a NES but I began my gaming life with the SNES. I then moved on to N64, PS1 and then Xbox. Now I have owned every system since the NES. I'd say my golden gaming years were with the SNES, N64, and PS1. But My all time favorite system is SNES and it always will be. I play that and Xbox 360 the most.

24...and I actually started on an atari due to my uncle loving games and watching me after school when I was really young...then I got a nes. From there on out I was a gamer on every console I could get my hands on. Cutting grass all summer and then putting it on a new console every chance I had.

I remember the bit wars very well...I remember being IN the wars...my friend was all about the n64 and I was all about the ps1. If only I knew then what I knew now I would have gotten a saturn...just for the fact I still own my original launch ps1.
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.

I'm 22, and started off with the SNES and GBC, as well as the NES and N64 that my cousins had. I started playing games right when Pokemon really took off (when Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal came out) and when a lot of fan translations of Super Famicom games started getting made. So a lot of the games I played were either SFC RPGs or had some Pokemon thrown in somewhere.

Well, I'm an old fart at 43. I grew up with Pong/Atari 2600/Intellivision/Atari 800. So I'm more tolerant of older graphics and care more about the gameplay. There are some friends of my age group who just can't do old graphics (they're xbox 360 fanboys).

You brought up an interesting point. Some of the younger age group never got exposed to Retro Consoles because they could afford the current Gen consoles. Your gain, their loss.

My profile:
I an Avid gamer who has seen first hand how the gaming Industry has grown. From the Pong games when they first hit my bowling alley, consoles from Bally Astrocade and Atari 2600 to NES to VECTREX (Remember that cool Vector Monitor?) Dreamcast all the way to PS3. I love Video games best when I'm playing them.

Well, I'm a young whippersnapper at the age of 19 and I started on the N64. I still have a bias for the early 3D shooters compared to the photo-realism we see today. Shooters like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark were as good as gold for me. Then I bought a NES from one of my buddies in 99'. Everything changed after that and realized how much goodness I was missing out on. Then I began collecting ever old Console I could find. It's no wonder I'm always broke.

i'm old just turned 17 and i grew up in the n64/ps1 era but my first console was an old sega master system(with a whole box of games) and then after that broke i got a gba when i was about 10? and then a DS one year later.

After that i had a SNES given to me and got a copy of yoshi island, one of the most advanced games of its time.

Ofcource later a got a Wii at launch(13yo) but always fond myself playing snes games via an emulator(because i could not afford carts even back then) and slowly moved up the platforms as my PC was upgraded or replaced.

Now days i honestly can't stand most new releases as there just no fun compared to what i grew up with, and as i got a gba as my first real system i was instantly attracted to 2d. About once a day i play Garou: mark of the wolfs and Progear and thats all i really enjoy. So to answer OP's question more clearly i don't think it has anything to do with age exposure as everyone has a certain preference and with the emulators working near 100% for even current gen systems its easy for people to seek out what they really enjoy.
Saturn, SNES, NGC, Wii, DSi, GBA, GBA Micro, PSX, PS2 and every emulator ever made :P

I'm 30 and grew up clutching my dear Atari. I of course moved right along into NES, Genesis, SNES, Sega CD, and all down the line. I can give it up. I recently went back a picked up the few systems I never got from before I was born. I've been collecting for 25 years and since my Atari 7800, I've been adding everything I could get my hands on. I even have a 360, ps3 and wii.... Now I am ..so....So...close....to owning them all.....Ironically the stuff I am missing is older than most of you....
