Sega Saturn - SCART Output

Post by PhilExile »

Hello,

I'm having a problem with the SCART output from my Sega Saturn. The horizontal screen position is shifted about 1/2 inch to the left, so there is a black bar on the right side. I've tested with other systems (PS2, DC, and Xbox) and they do not have this issue.

Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions on a fix?

Thanks in advance

I noticed this using older tv's. I hate to say but the only solution i know of is to use the rf cable. And i hated it at the time because i couldn hook my saturn to the stereo.

The TV (a Sony PVM-20m2u video monitor) isn't that old in comparison. It was manufactured in 1997.

The odd thing is if I run the SCART cable through a SCART to component converter, the centering is not off.

Any other suggestions? Could there be any pots or adjustments within the Saturn that I can adjust to affect the signal being output?

Thanks

1997 is old in TV land. I'm surprised that thing is even working. My Sony Trinitron lasted 2 years until the tube went on it.

This is a professional video monitor. I've had better luck with CRTs then you I guess. ;)

Anyway, what I was saying is that its the same age as the Saturn, so why the SCART would output off-center because its an "old" TV is baffling.

Any other suggest? Could it be that the SCART cable I'm using is 3rd party?

Thanks

What the hell happened? The CRTs I had lasted for over five years before any problems came up.

It just died for no reason. The colour started to stick in certain areas and then the tube just died, thin white line with a dot in the middle. I didn't do anything to the TV, the TV never moved from the spot and got cleaned several times week. Changed it for a Toshiba 32" Widescreen with surround, which lasted nearly 7 years before the tube went. I just put it down to Sony stuff being absolutely and utterly crap.

Hmmm, I have to disagree. I've had good luck with Sony TVs, you probably just got a bad one. I feel the same way about JVC, but I'm sure I was just unlucky in my experiences as well.

Anyway, can we get back to the SCART topic now? :)

Shit, that sounds terrible. I'd be absolutely pissed if my TV just shat on me after two years.

You're probably right about that.

I can't really contribute anything except this:
I'm jealous of you Uk guys that have SCART. I'm not aware of any way to get a TV with SCART without importing.

I'm in the good 'ole US of A friend.

You can convert SCART fairly easily.
