Congrats! I read your initial post again. What equipment did you end up getting?
I'm still in Bowser's last castle as I've been struggling to find time to play the game lately. I've gotten these pants for Mario that doubles his HP and increases his POW. For Luigi, I have these pants that auto-regain HP.
For me, the key has been understanding the boss patterns and have proper timing to avoid getting hit.
Thanks! I ended up leaving the castle and getting equipment that let Mario always go first in a battle, and another piece that always let Luigi go right before Mario. That gave me the edge in the final battle.
There was another piece I got from the coffee shop mini game that doubles damage given and taken that I used with Mario. Also, use the Luigi Swing on all of the Koopa Kids so that you can steal the Bowser Fist. It really helps with doing extra damage in the final battle.

I'm not sure which attack you're referring to. Mario has an attack named Swing Bros where he swings Luigi around. I have't been able to do it and just now, I looked at a walkthrough for the first time and noticed that my issue is that I'm not holding down the A button.
Personally, I usually use the Splash Bros (Mario) or the Knockback Bros (Luigi). I've gotten to the point where I can do both at level 3.

Ah, sorry about that. I was referring to the Swing Bros. If you get the advance version, it lets you steal items from enemies. One of the Koopa Kids has the Bowser Fist item, which really helped me deal a lot of extra damage. I was dealing around 220 damage with each Splash Bros and Knockback Bros on the final boss!
Ruby Weapon from FF7!!! Myself and 2 other friends spent at least 6 hours battling this asshole!

I remember watching my friend fight him back in middle school. I recall actually getting bored and leaving his house because it was taking him so long to beat the bastard!

Ruby Weapon was an optional boss, wasn't he?
Ruby weapon was hard? I'm pretty sure all you have to do is:
WSummon- Hades/Knights of the Round -> Mime -> Mime -> WSummon Knights of the Round/Knights of the Round -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime -> Mime (you get the idea).
Actually, that strategy worked pretty well on every enemy in the entire game. Knights of the Round was awesome, but wow was it broken.
All of the bosses in the game Nanobreaker. They all suck, though that red suited robot with that almost undodgeable attack that knocked off over 3/4 of my health pissed me off the most.
I got really into the PS2 Shinobi for awhile because I loved Shinobi 3 on the Genesis. When I heard you could unlock Joe Musashi, the guy from the Genesis games, I vowed to beat the game on Hard, which was really freaking hard. The last boss of that game on Hard mode is probably the single hardest thing I've ever overcome in a game. Took all night, but I did it, and then never used anybody BUT Joe Musashi to play the game again.
Even now, just watching this video brings my blood to a boil.
