Think this could exceed Saturn Bomberman? (Other than the sheer number of offline players)

Does seem like the ideal game for Live. But I fear I may not be getting the complete package and in order to, I need to purchase all these additional packs at a price.
I remember a time when something like this pack would be given away for free. Of course you will have someone say "quit your complaining! Look at the price! Its nothing! I'll buy it twice!".
Not a big fan of microtransactions.

I bought it without thought. It is definitely in the top 3 of Bomberman games out there imo. The price was set perfect for what was in the DLC.
This will be a good discussion, simply because you realize that Saturn Bomberman is the pinnacle of the series
Is Live better? Not really -- the gameplay is not as tight , and despite the fact that its running in high resolution, the environments and characters lack the charm of Saturn Bomberman. Saturn Bomberman was, very simply, the single most polished and profoundly good version of Bomberman. Its the game that made me lighten my wallet (back when it hurt to do so), buying a Saturn system.
But, with that said, Live is still superb. Its easily the best Bomberman experience since Saturn, and with the ability to find other players at any time, it certainly gets more play. For me, if I didn't already own one, its the game that would have sold the 360 for me. As it stands, Bomerman Live is the reason I joined XBOX Live -- forking out subscription fees. While I miss many aspects of the classic Bomberman -- beautiful presentation, victory/draw screens -- Live boils the battle mode down to its core. With one cheap and substantial expansion back already out the gate, and more to come, it may become the best Bomberman game yet.
I'm annoyed, as I am with all XBOX Live games, that there is no lobby for online gaming.
Pity this didn't come out for the PSN

So Live is the best installment for relatively modern hardware, wheras Saturn Bomberman is the best if you don't mind playing on a machine more than a decade olddurkada wrote:This will be a good discussion, simply because you realize that Saturn Bomberman is the pinnacle of the series
