great to have you on the forums man! As Dylan pointed out, we certainly will get along just fine! And great finds on the 4/6 Bit Generations games. I've had them on my "to collect" list for quite some time, but never seem to get around to it. Anyway, I look forward to comparing notes with you...

Your purple text is almost impossible to read on a black background.

in an effort to start my Gb/GBC/GBA collection, this past friday i picked up off of craigslist, a GBA for $5 with no battery cover (but i found a gameboy color at a local pawn shop that had a rechargeable battery pack that is the same color as the GBA), a gameboy with tetris, super mario land and power rangers in a nifty hard plastic carrying case for $10.

bummer tho as the screen is shot. after cracking it open, one of the transistors/capacitors that has to do with the screen has been damaged. (i.e. has gone AWOL)

i at least have a donor case that i can paint and toy around with modding.

Are you aware that Play Asia still has Boundish for 10 dollars US? Not the best of the bunch but it can be fun to play the multiplayer on it.

@k.vlaros:

Have you heard or purchased Kuru Kuru Kururin and its sequel Kururin Paradise? Paradise is Japanese only, but its easy enough to understand. Kuru Kuru on the other hand was also released in Europe. I picked up Paradise not long ago and its an excellent GBA game.

I was aware of it about an hour ago when I said to myself "oh crap! I better snatch this up tonight before someone beats me to it!" haha. Thanks for the heads up, man. :)

the weird thing about Bit Generations is this: because of the amazing packaging, you can NOT find any cart-only versions of the games floating around used. Which sucks for me because I put ALL of my GB/GBC/GBA games into DS caces with thecoverproject artwork. I mean, I know that the Bit Gen packaging is meant to add to the product, but gamer-OCD loves the uniform look of my library. And on top of it, if someone would just have a cart-only for sale, the games would probably be a lot cheaper to scoop up.

Its true. I'm not yet willing to spend 3 dollars on what are essentially mini games, though very awesome mini games. Oh, and I hope you at least keep the boxes even if you don't display them.

I guess with the Bit Gen games I'd keep them somewhere, but not displayed. or I'd offer them up for trade. But again, who needs the box-only when there are no cart-onlies floating around? Unless some one had a beat up box they wanted to replace I guess.

I do have Kururin Paradise, and yeah it's a rocking great game! Talk about a novel concept - navigating a rotating stick through a dynamic maze. Maybe you can clear something up for me. Is there any downside to setting your stick to the smallest size? I'm on the level where you navigate through a clock with spinning hands. I've nearly beaten it a dozen times, but so far all my closest runs have been with the smaller size. Do you get a time penalty or are you not able to pick up keys to unlock new paths with the short stick?

Funny about the Bit Generations... I too noticed they're rarely without boxes. My guess is that this is in part because the people still buying them skew towards diehards and enthusiasts - i.e. they weren't a title every Japanese kid would have rushed the store for on opening day and result in a large used surplus years later. And, I think they were one of the last GBA titles. Though I'd prefer not to pay for the box, they are slick looking. Of course it's a stretch to say these titles are worth $30. I have Boundish, Soundvoyager, Orbital and Dotstream. On their own merits as games - without adding points for novelty - the only one that stands out to me is Dotstream. It's actually a pretty cool faux-retro racer with some strategy possible and a solid 'just one more attempt' hook. Boundish is quite poor as a game... Oribital and Soundvoyager are extremely 'neat'. I may as well find the last two eventually, but it will be solely an unabashed concession to collecting 'OCD'.

For portable mini games, my favorite so far is Wario Ware Twisted. The tilt sensor's use in the game isn't flawless, but its close! And the whole presentation, interface, 'unlockables' and genuine challenge set this cart apart.

Im not too sure about Kururin Paradise because I haven't sunk enough time into it yet (its in a pile of about 15 or so games I have picked up since December) but in the Gamecube Kururin game, Kururin Squash!, changing the stick size is just a feature to crank the dificulty up or down.

Oh, and just so you are aware, there are actually 7 Bit.Generations games, you are missing Dialhex, Coloris, and Digidrive.
