More 2D Metroid Possible?

Could Metroid Dread Still Be In Production?
I can't believe they haven't made a 2D one yet for the DS.
I'd wager that it would sell better than Metroid Prime Hunters.

I didn't even bother getting Prime Hunters. Considering Metroid is my favorite series, that should say something. *shrug* I've been wanting a decent 2D Metroid since after I first finished Super Metroid. Fusion and Zero Mission both had too much hand-holding, not enough exploration.racketboy wrote:I can't believe they haven't made a 2D one yet for the DS.

I just watched that 5 part Metroid Retrospective. And it made me giggle to hear a certain thing somewhat repeated... not sure if it was intentional.
But the narrator would bring up the consumer response to each game when they explained it. And it was funny to hear everytime one of the exploration style metroids was shown the consumer feedback tend to be "to much back tracking"... but when they showed the more linear games, the quoted consumer response for those games when released was "not enough exploration, too much hand holding".
In exploration games you are going to NEED to back track... that's exploring.

I guess I don't like exploring. I like lots of action or I get bored. I think that's why I'm not much for Zelda games and why I liked Metroid Fusion A LOT. I still haven't finished Fusion as a I got a bit stuck. I need to dig that cart out again sometime for my DS.lordofduct wrote:I just watched that 5 part Metroid Retrospective. I don't mind back tracking. Super Metroid had a ton of it. However, Prime 2 had too much pointless back tracking and it forced you to warp between worlds way too much. It got very tiresome. Forcing you to back track just because, and not as a way to lead you to new avenues of exploration, is just laziness. BlasterMaster is another good example of back tracking done right.lordofduct wrote:I just watched that 5 part Metroid Retrospective.
