Grape Pop Tarts are BACK
Re: Grape Pop Tarts are BACK
You have to take solace that somewhere within these monstrous money-hungry companies there's people like you who just have cool ideas, whether that idea is a new game, an awesome car design, or guava-mango poptarts. Just close your eyes and pretend that their ideas aren't feeding the future of the free world to a communist dictatorship.

I don't even know what a Poptart is.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who shares this love.
Before they turned my 'regular' walmart into a FUCKING SUPER WALMART, I had to have my aunt send me boxes of Rice Crispy Treat Cereal from New York about every 2 months...Cereal of the gods indeed.

Kellogs is another ridiculously huge company that wants to exploit workers and take all your money... gotta love the system, it's all the same.
I appreciate that you guys have the awareness to be cognizant of the detrimental natures of these establishments (my vocabulary makes me sound kind of ridiculous sometimes, all apologies), but it takes more willpower for me to be irresponsible than not. I'm not really upset at my economic responsibility, that was a bit tongue-in-cheek, I'm honestly very proud of that aspect of my nature and wouldn't have it any other way - I'm more upset at the fact that this even HAS to be an issue. There shouldn't be any aspect to this other than me going to a store and buying delicious toaster pastries - cause: I purchase toaster pastries, effect: store, toaster pastry chefs, and deliverers of toaster pastries are paid for their services. But no, the ONLY place I can go to get such a flavor of toaster pastries is from as establishment which embodies everything I stand against - a greedy corporation leeching off of an ignorant public. Kellog's... is Kellog's that bad? The cereal business at least has Kellog's, General Mills, Post, and Quaker Oats... an oligarchy, but at least competition that doesn't leech billions from the United States every year nor do any of them employ anything so horrifying as Dead Peasant Policy. Also, I don't know of any Kellog's-sweat shop connections, although I'll be prompt to boycott Kellog's from my shopping list if I do find out such a thing. I get my basics from a locally-run grocery a few minutes from my house and everything else from the Publix - it's a bitch not having the benefit of 24-hours (the Kroger near me used to be 24 hours, but Wal-Mart booted them out of that business... I'd sorta stopped shopping there so much when they erected their own gas stations, anyway), but I make that little "sacrifice" since I just... wouldn't be comfortable with myself knowing that I could've done just a little extra work not to support the closest things I have to enemies on this planet.
Really, I don't mean to seem like a wack-job, it's just that I care alot about what impact I make on this world, and supporting something I know to be an immoral institution which is slowly destroying America's small communities is NOT a positive impact. I know I'm not perfect, but I'm always trying to improve... I don't shop at Wal-Mart, Kroger, Shell, Exxon, McDonald's, nor do I buy anything Disney, EA, or Sony-related (new)... I could do better, but at least I'm trying, unlike seemingly everyone else. I don't know, I just don't believe that I'm alive simply to masturbate my own senses... I'm gonna live with real vigor and a good moral consciousness (and not just a trite conservative one).
As far as the good guys having good ideas in bad places... I suppose I may find it acceptable to support a bad company if it makes a move in a good direction... I'm showing them through money that, "Hey, if you act more like this then I won't mind supporting you" and some kid with a good idea is getting his just desserts. I guess if I feel that a bad company is changing into a better one then I'll support it; like Kurt Vonnegut said, "You are who you pretend to be"... I wouldn't care if they had bad intentions so long as their ultimate impact was something good... but such an occasion is incredibly rare. But yeah... there's always beautiful businesses like local shops and morally-ambiguous establishments such as Amazon to keep me sustained. And then every once in awhile there's a "big" company that I can really get behind like Dischord Records (not really "big", but not small either) or the old Sega. I just try and be careful... let me put it this way, I wouldn't be able to enjoy Grape Pop-Tarts no matter how good they taste with the moral weight on my shoulders of what I'd supported in buying them.
And unfortunately no, I don't have a Woodman's near me. I should try ordering Rice Krispy Treats Cereal online, hahaha.

Re: Grape Pop Tarts are BACK
You know, I never got to eat Pop-Tarts or Rice Krispy treats as a kid.
Later on in about '04 I finally got my first box with money of my own, but I've never really been able to identify with any of the flavors like I've seen most people do.

Re: Grape Pop Tarts are BACK
I revive this topic from the netherworld of page 2 for a few reasons:
1.)Original Name's long winded post that didn't get a single reply
2.)I started it and it's awesome
3.)To actually make a reply:
Yeah my mom never bought poptarts, I don't remember too specifically why other than maybe the "they're terrible junkfood" reply. How they're that much worse than toaster strudel with that pure sugar icing (and at least 50% more sugary filling) I don't know. But I ate them whenever I stayed with my dad, so if anything poptarts became even more of a treat. He used to wrap them in some sort of paper towel sleeve because they'd be hot.
And eating cold poptarts is wrong. Completely wrong.
