Saturn Mod Chip Installation Guide does not show my board

Post by meathead42 »

In the guide I do not see any boards like the one I own. So my question is where do I solder the signal pin to? I have attached my board to this message. Please help...

Thanks!

I think that's the guide for your Saturn version.

Yeah I tried that one already. I first soldered A+B and then I when ahead and tied the signal wire to pin 8 on that chip. When it boots up it goes right to the disk bad format screen. As long as pin 8 is hooked up the drive will not spin.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Take out the wire going to pin 8. That wire is not needed if you do the A+B method.

I tried that... Guess I got one that does not work. I can do the swap trick and everything is fine. I guess I am ok with that, only problem is I don't know if my chip could be bad or if it is the system itself. Everywhere I read this is crappy system to mod. It a 50% chance on it working.

There has got to be a way to get this working on this unit...

Double check your power wire. The CD won't spin if the modchip isn't getting power.

This might also help http://www.segastyle.com/troubleshoot.html

I hope you get it working!

The 64 pin Saturn Model 2 is a pain in the arse. I never found a single guide that worked for me. I eventually just bought another model 2 and performed the mod on that instead.

Sorry I can't help you further, but to compensate the swap trip is very easy on this particular model, I couldn't perform it consistently on my 2nd model 2 compared to being able to do it every single time on my Model 2 64 pin.
