XCM Original Xbox Shell Tutorial?

Post by itsmattxp »

I was wondering if there was any advice/tutorial on changing the original shell to this new shell? I searched google repeatedly and could not find anything. I found a guide for taking apart the xbox and I reached that far but when I got to removing some components off the motherboard I was a little iffy and stopped it there. Do I have to take the motherboard and power supply out to be able to take out the tray? Do I even need the metal tray inside my new case? I'm really at a lost but don't want to rush this and lose something I have worked with for quite awhile. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Yes you need to take everything out to replace the shell...

So I have to pull the power supply cord and all those other cords off the motherboard? Their jammed in there pretty tight so is there someway rather than using my hands and pulling on the wires to get them out efficiently?

It would be advisable yes. Just jiggle the connector from side to side until it comes out.

What? You're replacing even the bottom of the unit?

Yes, I managed to do it. Was a little difficult since a lot of things are jammed in there pretty well.
