6/10 from Eurogamer. Why has Rebellion become a third-rate developer..

After a bit of playtime and adjusting settings, I found the multiplayer demo to be quite good. The controls feel nice. The graphics make you feel like you're living in an HR Giger painting. Unless the level design and AI is just totally shite, I can't imagine this game not at least falling in the 70-80 range.

Ill grab it down the line and play the hell out of the multiplayer with my friends regardless of balance or any other factors. The demo is downloading at home though. I am expecting it to be about as balanced as the other AvP at launch.

Ill stick with the Cps-2 version haha. And the 90s first person one. That one actually plays and looks quite nice now with a modern computer.

Geez though, the new one looks awesome from that screen!

I feel this exact same way. At first, the game play was a bit too twitchy for me to enjoy. As I got used to it, I realized, for me anyway, that this game needed to be played like I would play a horror game; alone, with the sound up, and in the dark.

I found the immersion factor is there for each character. Aliens can hide in shadows on the ceiling, screaming, waiting. Predator can scan around for the other species or turn invisible. And Humans have a flashlight and the motion 'beep...beep' detector. Each class has something special that pulls you in.

Granted, this is all based on my experience with the demo. Alien (Yes, the first one) is one of my favorite films, so if the single player is even remotely well made, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

The only reason I found the demo dissapointing was because it was MP only, and it automatically picked a server for you to join....meaning I was waiting upwards of 10 minutes to even start playing while it found a server and waited for players to join.

I have heard it's very good from the forums on Steam, but it's supposedly VERY buggy at the moment. I pre-ordered this about a month ago but unfortunately there was a mistake with the Canadian shipment (they forgot to include the french manuals) and therefor its been delayed....i'm still waiting to play :(

fuck. I was just doing a review having been playing this all day, and then the computer lost all my prose!

In short, it's not bad, but not as good as either of the PC originals - kind of what you would expect from a good old fashioned console port.

Great atmosphere (after the inital wet-nursing), very story centric, and the marine missions in particualar (which are the best) feel just like the Aliens movie:)

Also, it tells me I'm 35% of the way through after one not very intense day's gaming (in which I've played a couple of missions through twice)... so I'm not too impressed by the game's apparent brevity. I want my money's worth!!!

Update - finished it now - it ended up being shit. just so much not fun... crappy awkward controls, Preadator was particularly clunky, alien wall climbing not as well implimented as on the PC, marine missions were generally OK tho... traded it in asap for a 2nd copy of TvC.
