Their prices look great and if I could possibly get them to replace the lead-free solder with leaded solder it would make me ecstatic.

Re: Are these PS3 repair guys legit?
It's nice to see more companies fixing these consoles properly rather than doing a half assed temporary fix.

Yeah, but these guys aren't getting a dime, or my PS3 unless I get some info on them if possible.

Re: Are these PS3 repair guys legit?
As much as I hated Sony for bricking mine during an update, they did a great "Repair".
I emphasized to the Sony operator that mine was an Emotion Chip 60gb. Received packing box via UPS, shipped to Texas for exchange. UPS is great, I tracked online package status. Received replacement with a brand new shiny shell and happy to say it is the exact same model.
The only bad part was the expense at 162 bucks and losing all the game saves, but it is the same Emotion Chip 6ogb with a 9 month factory warranty. My purchased downloads are in my account so downloaded those again free. I think with that 9 month warranty there is a better quality control solder issue.

Re: Are these PS3 repair guys legit?
Well they say they are registered with the BBB, but nothing came up under Gophermods on the BBB website. Maybe I typed it in wrong. They are registered with the Minnesota Secretary Of State, and I found some other forums that say good things about them. If my PS3 bricked, I would use them they seem pretty good.
According to the forums I read, they seem to do a better job than Sony and you get your console back faster for a fraction of the cost. Anyways heres some of the forums I saw that said good things. I couldn't find anyone with first hand experience who said anything bad about them. Good luck Modman. http://boardsus.playstation.com/playsta ... id=4286063

Yeah, no. I don't do exchanges for another Used and worse off PS3.CRTGAMER wrote:As much as I hated Sony for bricking mine during an update, they did a great "Repair".

I spent $500 on it, I took immaculate care of it, I haven't had any other problems with it and I plan on getting MY unit back. An exchange for some random box isn't going to cut it.
Now, where did you hear anything about a nine month warranty? All repaired PS3's only get a 90 day guarantee from Sony and no more, I've called them several times to check repair cost and confirm that they were still repairing 60gigs.
Also, if I do get a random replacement unit any and all downloads I had before will now start to loose remaining downloads (Out of the five I'm allowed on other consoles) as they're no longer on the unit which they were originally registered to and that's not acceptable to me, period.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to look around a bit more and hopefully find some more info before I just send off my PS3 to them.corn619 wrote:Well they say they are registered with the BBB, but nothing came up under Gophermods on the BBB website. Re: Are these PS3 repair guys legit?
Oops, I have to read that fine print. You are right it is only 90 days. No idea of mileage and history on replacement so that is also an issue. However did get a new shell on the replacement so that tells me the repair guys at Sony must have at least gone through it. It also came back with the latest update already installed. When I registered to Sony for the repair they did record Model and Serial number and confirmed replacement to be same model. Still a risk if 60gb replacements were not there. According to UPS tracking, the replacement got shipped back out exactly same day Sony received the old one. As a extra precaution I did place a huge note on broken PS3 requesting same model. Maybe got lucky getting 60gb exchange, the PS3 still humming away. My only loss were the game saves, the old downloads were still in my on line account.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:Yeah, no. You can deactivate devices in your account settings. Not sure if you can do it through the PSN website or not though. You might have install that god awful media manager before it will let you do anything. Failing that I've heard that you can get Sony to do it for you. Some people have had success, some haven't it varies.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:Yeah, no. Still doesn't matter, I spent way too much on it and games/accessories for it to just get some random repaired unit.ПIOÐE wrote:You can deactivate devices in your account settings.
