Owning sega would be awesome. Instead of a Mariovs.Donkey Kong game for Wii, Mario vs. Sonic . I'd say why not do a crossover like the Crash/Spyro games for GBA, but I don't think Mario could handle the sonic levels. Square Enix would be the smart acquisition, the would own the Japanese market then.eastside wrote:http://www.forbes.com/2007/06/25/ninten ... r=yahootix
Uh, the corporate strategy for high market valuation is to use the captial to make a strategic acquisition of a key partner or rival. That's totally common place in America 'cept in Japan they have some honor bound cultural bias against mergers and acquistions.
Some market caps for comparrison:
Sega-Sammy - $4.8 billion
Capcom - $1.1 billion
Namco Bandai - $4.1 billion
Konami - $2.9 billion
Square Enix - $3.7 billion
Yeah, it'll never happen but one would hope that the strategic planners inside Nintendo are exploring the options.
Nintendo was worth a measly $18 billion just a year ago, btw.
Stock price falls and so does the capital.

Is it even possible for Sega to be seperated from Sammy now?nocturnalnerd wrote:Owning sega would be awesome. Instead of a Mariovs.Donkey Kong game for Wii, Mario vs. Sonic . They could buy the whole company or make an offer for just the Sega brand.kinn wrote:Is it even possible for Sega to be seperated from Sammy now?nocturnalnerd wrote:Owning sega would be awesome. Great idea, lets take some of the few original developers and make them non-independent.N64-Forever wrote:i would like them to buy indie devolpers like

Gaming companies buying other ones isn't a good idea, especially when the larger one has their own system. It takes your weapon of choice and throws it out the window.
