Old Magazines... just trash 'em?

Post by the7k »

I've got a metric crap ton of magazines that are doing nothing but taking up space. Mostly, they're just magazines I didn't even want to begin with.

I buy a camera, and they end up sending me two years of a photography magazine. Get a GameStop card, and I get sent GameInformer magazines for the rest of my life. Ya know, crap like that.

Is there anything productive I can do with this crap? Is trashing them the only solution, or am I overlooking something?

if you've got some old game informers circa 2002-2005 i might be interested.

also if you have ANY gaming mags from 1991-1997 i am interested. specifically GamePro/S.W.A.T.Pro, Die Hard Game Fan, Sega Visions, Mega Play, Game Players, and Next Generation.

Well, I do plan to keep a good number of my old magazines - it's just the stuff I was sent because of store/product promotions that I want to get rid of. You'd have to pry a Game Fan magazine from my cold dead hands.

I'll look to see if I have any really old Game Informers, though.

You can donate them to

www.retromags.com
www.outofprintarchive.com

Both sites have a shortage of human scanners but I'm sure they'll appreciate any donated items.

Beat me to it.

Somewhere there is a retro magazine forum where someone is asking, "I've got a lot of old worthless video games taking up space. Should I just toss 'em? I mean, how could Nintendo have a championship, and if they did, why'd they make a game out of it?"

I dunno, Luke. Game Informer, at least in my eyes, is pretty worthless.

Like I said, I plan to keep my GameFans, my EGMs, etc.

I guess you could always "go green" and recycle them.
