Looking for games where you play as human character (Loaded PS1) not a vehicle (1942 NES).

How about Shock Troopers or Shock Troopers 2nd Squad. Both are for Neo Geo, although the first is on SNK arcade collecton on Wii also.

There's a Steam special on Shadowgrounds right now. It's a pretty good top down shooter and $5 for the both of them is a nice price.

I've always had a lot of fun with the NES port of Guerrilla War. It looks and plays a lot better than Ikari Warriors, and it's about the Cuban Revolution!
