Isn't this Mega Man V fake? How much is it worth?

Post by deathclaw »

Hi, I came across one auction with 2x game boy color and some games:

He is selling it for 25 €, which is about 35 $ and it comes with 7 games and as stated in the auction one "blank cartridge" (?), which I have no idea about. The games are – Pokemon blue, pokemon yellow; killer instinct, cannon fodder, donkey kong, spiderman 2 and mega man V. All of them are pretty common and cheap but when I looked for mega man V on UK Ebay, there wasn’t (and still isn’t) even one copy of it! So I don’t even know how much should I ask, If I win the auction. I asked the seller to provide me a better photo of the game itself, and here it is:

So my first question is: Is this a genuine copy, or fake? I’ve seen a lot of GBA fakes, and have no intention in selling a bootleg on ebay.
And my second question:How much should I ask for it?

Thank you very much :)

It is real. It just isn't the NTSC version you are familiar with; It is a PAL Region game and will still work on your Game Boy perfectly fine.

I am more familiar with PAL versions, because I live in Europe :)

And according to Wikipedia, it has not been released in Europe at all, which is weird. At least it does not state the release date:

The last time I saw Mega Man V for sale, it was going for about $75 American.

Hmmm...that's very strange.

I've NEVER seen a mega man V cart that looked like that. Still, $35 is a fine deal for that lot. I'd say go ahead and buy it and then open the MMV cart. You may have an extremely rare game on your hands....or a cool looking bootleg.

Keep us posted.

Like I said above, it's the version archived here:

seems legit to me.

Wow...so this looks super rare :) If american version goes for $52+ , this should be worth even more, since there is not even one on UK ebay and the wikipedia description does not even mention the European release.
