Am I the only one that is....Done?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

The uproar over Hot Coffee still just baffles me to the point of hurting my brain. I can't believe that what got people so upset about GTA:SA was a goddamn sex scene that you had to be really knowledgeable to activate. In the main game I picked up hookers, had (unseen) sex with them, beat them to horrible bloody death to get my money back, then took photos of the dead bodies to add to my collection of dead hooker photos. Hot Coffee was nothing.

I don't have too many problems with the current stuff. I mean, to say its all blood and gore is certainly wrong, as many of you have pointed out. I do however feel that most of the really popular games are pretty stupid and uncreative. I also feel that there are far too many safety nets in gaming today. Where is the challenge anymore? And I really miss when gaming was a niche thing. All these fratboys having Call of Duty tournaments while getting trashed on Pabst Blue Ribbon is just... Disgusting. I don't know... As of right now I'm cassic only and happier that way. Will I get back into current stuff? Possibly at some point (PKMN HG/SS, STH 4, Galaxy 2, Other M ect are tempting) But right now I just don't feel like shelling out 50$ when I could have more fun spending under 10$ on a retro title.

As a teen, I tend to dislike this generation. I don't like games that say"OMFG! play games about war...it's the rage these days :x " it makes me sick and when I ask my friends why they like CoD4, Halo, God of War, etc, they tell me because of the blood and how it makes them feel like they're doing more than an rpg, platformer, etc. A game doesn't need the degree of realism that this generation has. I recently got my first current gen game console: the wii. I don't need Grand theft auto or Call of Duty to make me happy. I am content with super smash bros brawl and NSMB. I don't like how my generation is viewing games... I feel embarassed how my generation thinks uber graphics and blood makes a game great, but luckily a few of my friends including myself don't turn that direction :( . Maybe there is hope among a small community in the future that still supports "good" games...

See, to me all it said was "We're looking for an excuse" and they got one. The Hot Coffee scandal was a joke, through and through.

I could've sworn that the ps2 had at least one other AO game. I might be thinking of something else though.

If you really have a huge issue with modern brown shooters with too much blood, you can always... not play them? I don't, I just pass over them, plenty of other things for me to enjoy without worrying about the state of gaming culture or whatever.

You could've left this statement out entirely and it probably wouldn't have come up.

I think they reason why people are busting his balls over research is mainly because he's ostensibly taking a shit on modern gaming.
J T wrote:"E for Everyone" is a smart label. It could say something like "For children 5 and up", but instead they opt to not exclude adults.
I think that older K-A (Kids to Adults) rating was better because it specifically mentions adults.

EDIT: Remember when FPS games were fun? When they were more than just War on Terror played out in a thirteen year old's head? I miss aliens, mutants, and pigs.
