I Love Zelda - Will I Love Starfox Adventures?

Post by Cassidy »

Here's the deal - I am as big of a Zelda fan as it gets. I am also a ginormous fan of pre-Microsoft Rare.

Starfox Adventures slipped under my radar and lately I've been looking to flesh out my GCN collection. I've been reading that it is similar to Ocarina of Time, my gold standard for gaming.

How accurate is that? Does it have similar gameplay? Does it have that quirky Rare humour that I love?

Lastly, how much should I look to spend on it if I can track it down. I'd love to go sealed but eBay prices are retarded.

THX.

I am also a huge Zelda/Rare fan and have played/beaten this game. I will say that you should definitely pick it up because it is a worthy addition to any GCN collection. However, this game isn't really that special compared to everything else Rare cranked out or compared to Legend of Zelda. It is enjoyable; but the Rare humor isn't really present (unless I am remembering incorrectly). Overall; solid game but it doesn't really stand out compared to Rare's previous efforts and the Legend of Zelda. Considering it is $7 used at Gamestop I would suggest not paying any more than that :)

Starfox Adventures is a great game by itself but it does not compare to Zelda's Greatness.

i still love starfox adventures! if you like rare it's worth it. honestly they shouldn't of made it into a "starfox" game and made it its own game like it was meant to be. that being said the game is still one of my favorites. it's not to be compared to zelda because in reality it's not fully like a zelda game. but as a rare fan and at that price it is 100% worth it. just don't go in expecting a starfox game either.

It's a great game. Very good graphics that have aged well, variety of environments and gameplay and great music. Don't go into it expecting any kind of decent story (would anyone expect that from Star Fox?), and don't expect it to be as good as a Zelda game. You won't be disappointed.

I had this game, but traded it in at gamestop for something else after playing it for an hour or so. It is basically a game using a clone of the OoT Engine, playing in a world full of dinosaurs and with a Star Fox License tacked on. Although it is technically a solid game, I got bored with it quick. I don't know ... there is just something missing. It is not really a Zelda game, neither a real Star Fox game, it's just ... some dinosaur-themed adventure. I would suggest to first try it out before buying it.
