Sony still losing on every PlayStation 3 it sells
Re: Sony still losing on every PlayStation 3 it sells
Even if Nintendo never sold consoles at a loss... not selling consoles is a lot worse than that. (Virtual Boy)

it is 100% ok for a mod to insult another member but when that member calls a mod a asshole that post gets deleted

i am sooo sorry my illuminati master of the highest degree how should i bow down to you oh all mighty and knowledgable one please show me the ways you can proove that sony has lost money on everything it sells and may i learn the true english of the uk which must stand for uttermost knowledgeable.
you know what i really think this place sucks because mods suck off other mods here now fuck off assholes
the razor theory doesnt even hole weight thats like saying a dvd player sells at a loss because we can charge companies a fee to use dvd's in our dvd players. as for how many does sony want us to buy well i would say as many as we can. in the old days things were better made and lasted longer but in todays micro world they dont hold up i stilll have my first atari 2600, 5200, coleco vision, intellivision, nes, snes, genesis, but i am on my third ps1 my second ps2 (should be my third but i got into pc gaming) so really they are counting on you buying more than one hence the ps2 slim the psp 2000 , 3000, & go also the ps3 slim the ps one i mean should more be listed they want not wait they know you will be buying more than one of the same systems that you own. how? with gimmicks
oh yeah i forgot gba sp 2 versions frontlit and backlit! nds, ndsi the soon to be larger ndsi??? dont act like they only want you to buy "one" please they want you to buy at least 2 of everything they sell you.
hey do you remember when they said "cd roms" are the future of gaming and how it would change everything in gaming and even bring down the cost of games for the consumer??? well arent cd or dvd i should say games just about the same price of a cart based system back in the 90's? wasnt the price high because of the "chips inside"??? now it because of how many programmers they have working on the games.
sometimes you have to see through the bs. no one sells anything for a loss would you sell your "ps3's" at a 18 dollar loss??

First thing I need to say: Please, please PLEASE, use capitalization. Having nothing
but lower cases in a post that long makes it difficult to read.

It's not a theory, it's a business model. Your DVD analogy doesn't work because console games have licensing fees attached to them whereas DVDs don't/darthbluntedone wrote:the razor theory doesnt even hole weight thats like saying a dvd player sells at a loss because we can charge companies a fee to use dvd's in our dvd players. as for how many does sony want us to buy well i would say as many as we can.

That and DVD players are not proprietary, meaning you can find any number of 1,000's of companies in China, etc. that know how to make them, thus driving costs down.GSZX1337 wrote: It's not a theory, it's a business model. Heard from Industry sources, or elsewhere on the internet? Just curious...MrPopo wrote:I don't have any numbers to back it up, but I've heard the same thing, for what it's worth.

Selling something for $18 less than what it cost you to make in hopes you can get enough 3rd party support is like betting the rest of your money on one hand of poker.
If they make a dollar a system then at least there would be profit.
Also if you make a razor there is no guaranty that people will purchase additional products made by your company. Also if you printer is kodak you dont need ink made by kodak there are other companies that make ink that will work. Or evenrazor blades or shaving cream. So to bank on such a small percentage of the market you "try" to control isnt a sound investment. I would bet they actually get money off each individual piece of software sold on top of licensing fees. have you ever worked in any sales dept.?
I work in a gm dealership in the parts dept. there are 3 set of pricing listed in the catalog 1. cost 2. wholesale 3. suggested retai. here are the rules 1.never sell at cost or below 2. employees pay cost +10% 3. all accounts pay wholesale 4. all customers pay suggested retail price 5. in order to make your monthly bonus you must sell a certain % of profit. in no way could i keep my job if i sold anything to anyone at cost or below in no way could i ever give a customer a wholesale price and the only way for you to get this is to talk to a parts dept. manager. which he would have to forfiet his commision on said product.
I am not trying to fight with anyone here.

Companies sell things at a loss. It happens...I promise.
Re: Sony still losing on every PlayStation 3 it sells
He actually didn't insult you. You had no location information in your profile and we have lots of people from other countries who's grasp of English isn't so good. He wondered if English was your first language because your post was hard to read. There was no capitalization, not much punctuation, and your thoughts were coming out jumbled.no but thats the funny thing a mod can insult all he wants. but i call him an asshole and that post gets deleted. thats bullshit just like sony loses 18 dollars on every system.

Seriously, what the hell happened in this thread? I ask a simple question pertaining to the unreadability of a post and I get insulted at point blank. Is it any wonder I deleted your post?
It's not hard to use proper grammar when making posts on a forum. Especially not if your first language is English. This is something you should have been dealing with for at least 10 years now (the T&Cs for this forum requires you to be over 13). If it's not your first language then allowances can be made. We have plenty of international members who don't speak English natively and we make concessions for them. That is fine. It just helps to have the Location field filled out in your User Control Panel (which is found under the logo, right below where it says 'recent posts') then we can take the extra effort for these particular users. Call me a grammar nazi, but if you can't be bothered to spend an extra 30 seconds reading over your post before submitting it then I sure as hell ain't gonna bother spending any longer than that deciphering your posts.
