So I was wrong about Mario64
Re: So I was wrong about Mario64
Tbh I wasn't quite impressed by Mario 64 back then. Its blurry visuals and odd camera didn't win me over. I was also bitter Sega hadn't bothered to finish Sonic Xtreme. I'm not too keen on 3D platforming, which is why I never finished Tomb Raider 2 (the only game in the series I bothered getting)

Re: So I was wrong about Mario64
As someone that grew up a hardcore Nintendo fanboy, I'm ashamed to admit I didn't play Mario 64 until two years after its launch, and didn't play through it until after I had played through Donkey Kong 64 in 1999 or 2000. I enjoyed both Galaxy and Sunshine more, and I think part of this is due to the fact Mario 64 was great because of what it did before others. After having played Donkey Kong 64, polished 3D platforming in large 3D worlds wasn't new and fresh to me, so Mario 64 just seemed like a regular great game and not the mind-blowing experience most people described it as. It's something I wish I hadn't missed out on. But hey, I'll always have SMB3/SMW/LttP/OoT.
Re: So I was wrong about Mario64
Glad you finally saw the greatness the game has to offer. I've had an interesting history with Mario 64. I didn't get round to playing it first until 2002ish, but even then I didn't play it to completion until I got my own 64 nearly two years ago. I have to say it holds up mighty well considering its age, and commanded my attention for hours at a time. It's reassuring to think of how many franchises went down the tip when they made the jump to 3D, but Nintendo pulled it off quite spectacularly for a number of games. In fact, they did it so well that Sunshine and Galaxy still use the Mario 64 blueprint. Both are fine titles too.

Re: So I was wrong about Mario64
Well this is my first post outside of the introduction post and it seems fitting to post about Super Mario 64. It is my favorite game period. The 64 was the first system I bought myself, and Super Mario 64 was the first game. I loved it from the moment Mario jumps out of the pipe in front of the castle. Just a great game through and through no matter how many times I play it.
I have never played Sunshine and I am going to be purchasing within the next week. I have my standard set pretty high since it is Mario, but the expectations are no where near as high as they are for Mario Galaxy. Look forward to playing them both.

Hurry up and play the before Mario Galaxy 2 comes out!
Also, since you said Mario 64 is your favorite game, I'll refer you to a post I made earlier in this thread about Shindou Super Mario 64.
