I've been in x-men vs. street fighter heaven since I finished the stick. :)

In the past I've spent countless hours, likely days, looking for the elusive japanese virtua stick, and it never dawned on me to just convert an agetec. I modded my fighting stick SS with sanwa parts, and it's almost perfect, but due to space limitations I'm left with a slightly-too-long joystick shaft, not to mention the 8 button layout. The modded agetec is perfect for the saturn, I'm really happy how well it turned out, considering soldering to a controller PCB can be hit-or-miss. I picked up another agetec locally on the cheap so I'll sanwa-mod that one when I get a chance to order the joystick and buttons. Funny enough I don't even really need the replacement as this stick works with the DC adapter.

If anyone's willing to pay the exorbitant cost for me to make one, I can make another sanwa modded agetec. My local game store has another used agetec stick for $50, plus figure in about $25 for the joystick and roughly $25 for buttons (depending on color, sometimes a set of 6 green ones is only $12ish). If you're willing to pay the $100 in materials plus about $30 for labor and shipping, I'd probably be willing to churn one out.

If I would have known a few days to a week ago you could have had mine for $50, in the original box and everything. I planned on modding it, but it's a pain in the ass, so it now lives in my closet. After all this arcade stick talk lately on the boards and in general as I'm out and about in town, at work and with buddies I may give it another shot, though.

Just did a quick lookup on eBay for the Virtua Stick too, JESUS it's selling for a ton! I bought my boxed one from Hashiriya1 last Oct. for like $60!

Yeah, they're really hard to find anywhere close to the states for anywhere close to reasonable price. I've heard they're a bitch to mod, most of my searching for them was done in my pre-stick-modding days.

If you're still willing to let it go, and it's in good working condition, I'd probably be willing to buy it, or trade you even-up for a stock used agetec. Tracking one of these down is not my top priority any more, but let me know. I'd really love to own one even if for the shelf.

I would, but after what I saw, I'm definitely keeping if for now. I will mod it before the end of this month, though as I'm now on a stick modding craze starting due to the events of this last week.

If it's any consolation I plan on selling my PS3 Tournament Edition Street Fighter: IV Stick. I only used it about three times before my PS3 broke a few months back and it still includes the original receipt, box and manual/warranty sheet.

nah, at this point the only stick I "need" is that japanese saturn virtua stick. I'll likely never own one

Glad to see yours is in a good home.

Yeah, I'm keeping it in good shape for now, but I'll be modding it with some Sanwa buttons, Seimitsu stick, black Vinyl Dye on the plastics and a black controller cord from a spare Official Saturn controller. There's also a small sign shop in town that will reprint the Virtua Stick faceplate artwork (Unfortunately it has to be destroyed for the stick to be changed out) on this nice Vinyl material similar to the original faceplate from a vector image copy of it that I found online.

Thanks for the condolences, I was crushed when the pcb 'died.' The agetec now has a saturn controller soldered in, so I'm happy. When I went to the game store to get the saturn controller to sacrifice, I lucked out and got another agetec on the cheap, so I'll be sanwa-modding that one whenever I get around to it.

God must hate me, the saturn PCB i put in this thing took a dump too. Its somewhat my fault, i dusted the TV and then picked up the stick while charged full of static electricity. I felt the shock hit the sheet metal plate of the agetec's case when i picked it up... I'm lucky it didn't fry my saturn(!). Damn my apartment not having well grounded outlets.

On a plus note, I figured out how to solder in an official sega saturn controller PCB. While I felt guilty 'sacking' a good saturn pad, it was totally worth it. I also wired in a DPDT switch to give me the option of switching the C and Z buttons to R and L instead, so now I can put in a coin for radiant silvergun, and play nights without an eight button stick.

It was a really easy job since the PCB from the fat saturn pad is three parts. If you disconnect 2/3'rds of it, you can solder wires for all the directions and buttons to convenient solder points. The start button was the PITA, since the contacts for the button itself are covered with the famous black crap that won't allow soldering, and the only exposed part of that trace was where it connects to the main chip, leaving you no choice but to solder to one tiny leg of that chip.

I've got the urge to convert another one of my agetecs in this fashion since they work just fine with a saturn to DC adapter. If anyone wants pics of how I wired it up I'll be happy to post them.
