3DO Problem: Just a Black Screen

Okay, looks like that 3DO I just got is a dud. When I cut it on, all it has is a black screen.

However, when I have the disc tray open, the 3DO logo comes up. That's the only time it displays anything though. I don't have a controller yet, but I do have the Guardian Wars game, which appears to be in perfect condition.

Anyone have any idea what the problem is? How I can fix it? If I can fix it?

Make sure everything is clean. Grab one of those laser cleaning disks if you haven't yet. The FZ-10 models have a power switch. If yours has one, I'd try powering it on and off again to see if it does anything. That's about all I can think of.

I just talked to the guy who sold it to me - he said he'd actually trade out my FZ-1 for the FZ-10 model... FZ-10 is superior, am I correct?

I mean, the '10' part obviously implies that, but I'm just wondering if there are any problems associated with the FZ-10.

I've always been partial to the fz-1 model because I think it is a better looking and more solid model...but the fz-10 model has less problems with the disc tray. Both play games equally as well.

As for the current problem you are having I can't really help much with that I'm afraid. Does it play music cds and give the visualizations?

Well, never got to try it - I've already given the FZ-1 back to the seller. Supposed to be getting the FZ-10 tomorrow morning.

Hopefully, that'll be the end of it.

That is probably for the best. The FZ-10 I got was sitting in a garage for about 3 years before I found it, and it works like a charm. You will be hooked once you've played it, they are awesome toys.
