Fair enough. I got to Chaos' Temple without Class change, but I never even got close to beating it.fastbilly1 wrote:I did it with the class change. I got close once without, but it just so happened that that was one of the times I ran into the warmech by chance. I took a different job shortly after for unrelated reasons.

Re: 8-bit victory: NES games you are proud to have beaten
Somewhere there's a list of NES games I was beating back in the days of renting them. The one I'm most proud of beating is Deadly Towers. As I mentioned before, I made maps of the overworld, the hidden dungeon entrances, the hidden shops inside those dungeons, and legitimately bought my way up to the best equipment and beat the game. I'm sure I've still got several pages of save codes with the maps, wherever they happen to be.

I just now beaten Metal Storm without save states. The only part that I really had any trouble with was the Stage 6 boss. I haven't tried the Expert Mode (Second Quest), yet. I think I'll save that for when I'm feeling masochistic.

In my case, Deadly Towers beat me. (why do I suddenly feel like Yakov Smirfnoff?)Hobie-wan wrote:Somewhere there's a list of NES games I was beating back in the days of renting them. That's impressive. That game had horribly slow controls. I borrowed it from one of my neighbors and played it for quite a long time, but could never complete it. I eventually got so fed up with the game that I quit. I couldn't stand to look at its ugly graphics or listen to its crappy music any longer. With each new defeat, I hated the game even more and more until I just couldn't stomach playing it one more time.

All the Ninja Gaiden games for the NES, I was so happy to finally beat the first one after spending years of my childhood trying to conquer it. The other two were much easier to me, but still tough and fun to beat.
