When we look at the PS3 like we look at the ATARI 2600....
When we look at the PS3 like we look at the ATARI 2600....
You know, graphics and gameplay-wise. How do you think we will look at the Atari?

I'm not entirely sure that I get you meaning. Do you mean, how long will it take to look at the ps3's graphics as archaic? If so, maybe in another 20 years or so I guess.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

I think you are posting about the 2600 Graphics-Gameplay vs Current Gen Graphics-Gameplay?
My measure of the 2600.
First off if this other post is true, this is one person that will have very nice memories:

For me unique gameplay for the limited graphics. Some games have yet to have a remake.
These I have that I think are unique:
Slot racers
Maze Craze
Yars Revenge
Indy 500 (Okay maybe Micro machines but not those driving controllers)
Stellar Track (Inspired by older main frame computers)
Every Game Console have unique great games, trick is finding the keepers.

What I mean is, When the PS3 looks as bad to us as the Atari does today. what would we look at the Atari like if the PS3's graphics are considered ancient?

Try opening an Atari console guts and you may find very little in the box.

The graphics the PS3 puts out probably won't be considered archaic until we have holodeck type shit coming out of our great great grandkids PS10's.
I don't think many of today's games will be thought of as graphically primitive as 2600 games 20 years from now, but gameplay wise they may be. At some point the realism envelope is going to be pushed about as far as it can go.

Anyone remember the movie Brainstorm?
Okay the movie was crap but the concept .........
Its where you could where a headset and basically have someone else's experience.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainstorm_(1983_film)
When we get to that point I think then the PS3 would be on the same scale as the 2600 is now ............

Duck tape 12,800 atari consoles together and maybe it will become a PS3 by magic.

Or you can just hot glue 500 SNESes together. (or 300 MegaDrives)benderx wrote:Duck tape 12,800 atari consoles together and maybe it will become a PS3 by magic.
