Last night I got wrapped up in the 1947 Kiss of Death staring Victor Mature and Richard Widmark. Now that was an intense bit of film noir. Its not Maltese Falcon intense, it is Rope intense. I was writing and had to stop because the story just kept pulling me in. Widmark played an exquisite character and was one of the more evil psychopaths on film.

I just watched The Lion King again.

Scar is awesome, but he lets his pride get in the way. By refusing to leave Pride Rock, he doomed everyone, just because he refused to abandon the "castle" he worked so hard to obtain. Had he taken the Pride and the Hyenas to follow the herds and find a new kingdom, he could have done a great job. Even if other lions had claimed the domain, the might of the lionesses plus the hyenas, would have come out on top. Instead, he just sits there, king of a barren wasteland. (Though in his defense, had Simba been one day late, the rains would have started and everything would have grown back and came back)

So has anyone heard Harold Faltermeyer composed the score to Cop Out? I might be skipping the movie but the soundtrack is definitely on my to-get list!

I actually want to see that if only because it's original title was A Couple of Dicks.

Just to let you know, there's little K.Smith dialogue in the movie, as he didn't write the script. It's more of a "crowd pleasing" movie so he can get more bucks to back up his next big film.

I think RED STATE is paid for, and he's got his Slap Shot-esque movie in prepro, so I'm all for him making money. Just don't expect the regular K.Smith movie for COP OUT.

I just hope it does well in theaters. The guy deserves to catch a break after the whole Zack and Miri thing.

BTW, do you listen to Smodcast? Just curious. I'm a huge Smod fan!

I listen to smod once in a while.

Met Kevin twice, and went to one of his Q&A's. Got him to sign a few of his comics for me as well.

The script for COP OUT has been floating around for years. I'm glad Smith was able to bring it to production.

It'll do well in theaters, especially because it has a great release date with not too much competition.

This move kind of puzzles me, because it goes against everything I've heard Smith say about making movies. He always gives the advice that if you want to make a movie, get a bunch of credit cards, fund it yourself, and make the movie you want to make. He's saying he needed a blockbuster so weinstein and co. would pay for the production of RED STATE.
