I'll admit it would be nice to have a memory card in there, but like you mentioned earlier, you'd need to be able to disable it in order to use another cartridge.Ziggy587 wrote:Well SGGG2 never said what kind of cart he wanted to use inside the system. If he wanted a PAR to boot different region games, then the region mod IS a better option. But if he wanted a memory card, that's a different story.
Any way to install a Saturn cart *inside* the system?

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Right, but it wouldn't be too hard. You would just have to find out the pinout of the cart slot so you can link a 5v (or whatever) to a switch.

Ziggy, your idea is great, but it wont work.
ALL of the pins need to be disconnected, not just the power. People have tried this with an NES, no matter which pin they put the switch on, it never works.

Might be different with the Saturn hardware, no?
Re: Any way to install a Saturn cart *inside* the system?
I can't see why it wouldn't. you would have to remove all other pins to use a different cart. If you didn't it will cause interference, lots of screwy things can happen then.

I can see how that would happen. Oh well, hopefully the OP didn't want to hardwire a memory cart and the region mod will be enough for him.

Hmmm, okay, I think I see a viable option. Leave the cartridge slot intact, install cut down cart for connectors > ribbon cable > memory cart/PAR. As long as there's room, it'll work.
Not sure if I'll actually do it, though.
