Stadium Events for NES - is the high bidder getting hosed?

Post by BAD PIXEL »

Just saw on eBay a full copy of Stadium Events for the NES going for over $10,000 - which isn't all that unusual for the NTSC version, considering its rarity. Now, it's not specified in the listing, but this would appear to be the PAL version, as some of the documentation is clearly in German. Isn't the PAL version fairly common? Is the high bidder getting hosed here?

update - Looks like the seller has stopped the auction due to being unable to answer all the questions and the overwhelming response... Hmmm....

update 2 - But now there's another copy up for bid within the last hour that looks to be the German / PAL version as well.

I don't know, but that would really suck. Can you imagine?

Although, anyone that is willing to spend 10,000 on a game is probably well informed

Legit copy or not, anyone who spends 10 grand on a piece of plastic is getting hosed.

Holy crap

whoever bids on the first one is likely to get their money jacked in a snatch.
Its amazing how this guy didnt even try to crop it. I'm sure with this much publicity itll get snatched off of ebay but c'mon. Do something respectable that you can be proud of stealing. Like a Maserati.

There must be a sudden interest in this game because of the story that has been running recently about the unknowing mother that put a copy up on e-Bay and ended up walking away 13 grand richer:

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The sudden focus on this game has everyone looking for a copy to put up for sale, even if it's a PAL version. I'm betting a lot of folks don't know that there is a difference in rarity for PAL vs NTSC, may have caught the headlines for the recent eBay sale, and are figuring that anything less than $13k is a steal. One of the auctions has updated info stating it is the PAL version and that bidders should do their homework before bidding - notice that the bidding has subsided after that addition to the listing.
