I always prefered Spyro the Dragon to Mario 64. That's just me though.

Jersey Devil and Croc were always good fun as a kid too, butt they haven't held up at all as well as the Spyro's on PS1. Controls and camera are everything, and Spyro just got it perfect (at least the later 2 games, the first one did have camera problems but is still very playable)

For me though, Mario 64 has just never rang the fun bell that much. I played through it on a friends 64, then again on my DS, and it's just not as fun as Spyro is for me. In fact, I'd argue that the controls are better in Spyro, but thats debatable.

I have enjoyed the time I've spent with Mario 64. It is overall a very well designed game, and fun to play. I just wish I didn't have to play the same levels over and over again to progress through the game. That gets old quick.

^ But the levels are so huge that each time you enter it you usually have to access a completely different area of the level, a lot of times a real remote place too.

I think most people don't like the water tank that Mario has to wear on his back. Once you get over this, the game is a lot of fun.

Ill admit I never gave Sunshine a chance. It came out at a bad time for me and I thought it looked silly. But when I saw a friend of mine playing it a couple weeks ago, it simply looked like Mario 64 with new puzzles. So now it is on my to buy list, I just dont know when Ill find a non greatest hits version in my price range.

I haven't played Sunshine since around the time it was released, but I beat it back then (including most of the "extras," I believe) and I've never had the urge to play it again. It's high quality, like all of the mainstay Mario titles are, but I find the water tank gimmicky to the point that it drains much of the fun out of the game. There's nothing entertaining to me about cleaning mud with a hose and using it as a jet pack trivialized much of the difficulty in the platforming elements.

that's probably the major complaint. And I think people expected some giant step up from 64, which it really isn't. But it's a fun game. Great graphics. Great levels. Etc.

Do it! Its an awesome update to Mario 64's classic formula. You should feel right at home going from mario 64 to galaxy.

I enjoyed playing Super Mario Sunshine. I thought the jet pack thing was cool.

The one thing I didn't like about the game were the voices. I found it difficult to understand what they were saying. In the beginning of the game, they had Mario on trial and thrown into jail. I found it hard to follow.

Is it just me or did you have the same issue?
