Ah, Mad Dog McCree. One of the few well received FMV Games of the 90s. This is due to the fact that it started out on the Arcade. However, it was recently ported to the Wii, and while many didn't like it, as it had not aged well, I did. As such, here's a review of it.
Story: You are the Stranger, a person new to an Old West Town. As the Stranger, you quickly learn that the outlaw, Mad Dog McCree, has been causing all kinds of chaos in the Town, and it's up to you to stop him. However, there's more. There are two other games included: Mad Dog McCree 2, and The Last Bounty Hunter. The story of 2 is basically the same as 1, and the story of The Last Bounty Hunter has you, the Stranger, running around dealing with 4 different Outlaws and they're gangs.
Gameplay: This is an FMV Shooter. As such, you'll be using the Wii Remote to shoot at live action enemies. While it's simple in concept, it's pretty fun. Should you lose all your lives, you need to do a Showdown with an Outlaw and win to get them back. As such, there's no real "Game Over" in this, unless you let the timer run out when you lose all your lives.
Music: While there isn't much Music, it's still pretty good. Especially when you actually face off with Mad Dog himself. Gotta love that tune! Heh. It's basically the same kind of Music you'd hear in an old western movie.
Challenge: The difficulty level is adjustable. Plain and simple.
Final Word: Overall, this is a very fun game that deserves your time if you like shooters. It's also a bit challenging at some parts, so that adds to the fun. This is ReddMcKnight, signing off.

Very nice Redd, how would you say it compares to the original?

I wish I could say, but I can't, as I never got the chance to play the original. I assume though, that it's a picture perfect port.wclem wrote:Very nice Redd, how would you say it compares to the original?

That's a great review Redd! Good Job
I was actually thinking of purchasing this game since I remembered the Arcade machine very well.

Yeah I've got some great memories of everyone crowding round this when it was new in the arcades, and I dont care if it hasnt aged well I want to get it anyway.
Thanks for the review and ReddMcKnight, I read somewhere that this is exact port of the originals and the picture quality is just slightly less that the laserdisk would have output.

I remember in the past century a long long time ago, when I was drooling for a snes with bitmap graphics and its cool looking cartridges.
So I go to my friends house and he has this system its caleld 3DO , it plays CDs and its so powerful it has video for graphics!
You can imagine how mind blowing it was for me. I still remember the undertaker that comes out the end saying "one size fits all" making a chopping gesture with his hand.
If this is the same as the original or a remake, I will play it. If its another game of the series, i don't know if I am interested. I always wanted to play the original, but its too much of a hassle to get a a working 3do and then a copy of the game.

Well I finally got this game. I spent just 30 mins or so playing the first game yesterday. It still has all of the character and charm that it had back in the day. Love it.
This game would have been a money muncher in the arcades - you really don't have a lot of time to hit some of the targets and some scenes are randomized so you can't just memorise them either. On top of that, if you lose all of your lives, you couldn't just put more money in and carry on, you had to win a duel. You lost the duel, then you had to put more money in!
Fortunately on the wii that isn't really a problem, you can continue as many times as you like. I plan on making a vid of a 1cc run, just as soon as I can 1cc it
